Cell phones are great to have, they are almost a necessity in today's world. Make sure you can afford it though. Depending on your age it might be a little shaky(you should have mentioned your age). Because to get a cell phone, usually you need a credit check. So if you're like 13, your parents have an authority over you, if you're an adult, do what you think is right for you, you can make your decisions without your parents input.

you shouldnt buy one if your parents dont want you to.
I'm in college and i dont have a cell phone. never saw the need for it. i can always find a payphone or use the home phone.
it'll only be extra payment for you..

get a pager and learn how to use skype, although it is quite low tech, but being connected all the time becomes more of a burden than a convenience
