Make sure you are medically fit before you decide to carrying out the fasting process...it required both mental and physical readiness to go through the fasting. Suggest that you start with what we call a liquid fast, that is drinking liquid rather than solid food from 12midnight till the next day 6pm and than break the fast by taking a small (remember only a small amount of food) or else it will bring damage to your body.

well. if it is your fist time fasting...don't push yourself. Drink a lot of water. don't drink any coffee or tea or soda's, stick with water. You don't necessarily have to eat nothing. if it's your first fast, start by eating only fruit. I't not cheating, trust me it's just as hard.
Every time you're hungry...(which will be all the time) you'll think about God. See it as a time to spend with God.
Also, be sure to write down why your fasting, what you want to hear from God and how much you can eat. (trust me, your fasting rules get very blurry as the hunger increases.)
But I'm exited for you! It an amazing way to spend time with God. You'll see for yourself.
And be careful, the devil uses fasting to try an proof to us that we aren't worthy. Don't let him get you down. Don't listen to his reasons of why you should stop. If it wasn't an issue to him. Why would he want you to stop so badly?

Uh, not eating anything is the traditional way. You should still drink water though, or else you will die.
