Also, how long must the virus be in your throat before you realize that you have the symptoms that leads to the diagnosis? I know that in cervical cancers, the HPV could have been contracted in your 20's and not show up as cervical cancer until 10-15 years later.

It should be pointed out that 1/3 or more of the sufferers from laryngeal HPV are children who did not acquire it from sexual activity- this form of larygeal papilomatosis is transmitted from infected mothers to the child at birth. These children may be asymptomatic or show vocal changes. Many of them still have larygeal infection as young adults, meaning that not every adult with HPV in the throat acquired it sexually.

Oral sex gives you a lot of STDs--including HPV, which causes cervical cancer in women.

the way you get hpv in your throat is by performing oal sex on a person infected with hpv.

By giving someone who has the virus oral sex. This is extremely rare though.
