There are lots of computer games that are educational and appropriate for her age (and much younger). Go shopping with her and pick out a few that sound like fun.

Kids sometimes just like typing - teach her to open up word and type. As she gets more familiar with it teach her how to do different things like change the color of the text or correct spelling.

Explore websites with her - kid friendly ones like nickolodeon, disney, yahoo kids, etc...whatever she is into.

I'm pretty sure they start kids off in school on the PCs from grade one now don't they? At any rate go to Best Buy or something and buy some children's computer learning software. There's tons of learning/game programs for pre school and up.

First, try teaching her to type. That will make using the computer more fun. You can have her practice her ABC's without even turning on the computer. Once she has a handle on this, try showing her how to draw with Paint, then gradually work your way through. Good luck with your daugher! Take care.

this is my ideal situation:
i want to start my daughter on something like what was around when i was a kid, specifically command line interface...i think it will teach her that not everything in life is so point and click...and hopefully it will eventually teach her the real value of computers, not just gaming and chatting (ie lazy and obese)....i might be living in a dreamland, but it's my opinion, and we all know what those are like....good luck
