We are all dying, and we dont know when, 1 in 4 of us will get cancer, we will watch our families die, we wont see our great grandchildren.. how will it feel to be old? to know you may only have 3 more birthdays left, how does someone cope with knowing they will watch loved ones suffer and eventually die themselves... When I have nothing else to think about, when I am alone or wake up in the middle of the night I panic about this.. and I cant imagine anyone making me feel better about being dead, or losing my parents..... how come I seem to be the only one that cares??? Why isnt everyone running around terrified?

Most people life healthy, happy lives dealing with what comes alone as it comes…facing the challenges and feeling gratified when they are transcended. We can’t live fully, authentically, it has been said, until we also acknowledge our mortality, that is, not blindly living in denial. However, to focus exclusively on death and dying is itself a slow death, because we are denying ourselves the opportunities to participate fully in life and truly live in the here and now. There is a straight forward brief therapy for this malady of worrying: in fact it’s summed up in just two words: if you are plagued by worries about death and dying: “Stop it”. But the challenge is to catch yourself doing “it”. This is the hard part because the worries become imbedded in the subconscious, that is, we are into the habitual patterns of worry without even being cognizant of it. So it is necessary to begin to practice the observance of your thoughts…and when you catch yourself falling into the old habitual patterns, stop it, by changing the channel: think of some thing very positive, joyful. Rest by being just purely present in a moment, without thinking without labeling your experience, just focus on your breathing and give your mind a vacation.

Because death is merely a doorway in our infinate travels. We have all lived and died before, in this reality we do not remember, or very very few of us do, but most don't.

Death itself is not painful. is natural and is a way home, but only when the time is right.

I am not scared of dying and I look forward to my next phase of existance. but I am worried about HOW I may die and if the months, weeks, days leading up to my death will be painful or not.

The moment of death will be a blessed relief when it finally comes.

It is something we cannot avoid and so there is no point in being scared.

Fear is there to alert us to take action to avoid something that will cause us harm.

Death is a peacefull and wonderful state to be in. You cannot avoid it, merely delay it as long as possible.

So live life to the fullest whilst you are here and meet death with a big smile on your face like you have won.

Do you believe in God? If you believe in God, you won't have that fear of dying. A spiritual lifestyle helps you understand that there is a better world awaiting us all. Matthew 5:12 states "Rejoice and be glad, because you have a great reward waiting for you in heaven". There is a book called "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren that helped me better understand my purpose here on earth. It helped me to relax and enjoy life - rather than living my life with fear and worry. Reading "The Bible" helps develop a sense of peace and understanding. Live a life with Christ and your worries will disappear. I'm undergoing major surgery in two days (the surgeon is cutting away part of my vertebrae and then severing a nerve). I have faith that God will keep me from harm and will me heal quickly. I don't fear death, but look forward to a life with Christ. Relax - seek advice from other Christians. Read the Bible daily. Enjoy the life the Lord has given you.

Because dying is a natural part of life. It happens to everybody. Most people know there is a better place that we go when are times up, thats why know one cares.

I think about that too but I don't panic. Me+ Panicking = total craziness. and people aren't running around scared because they don't want to know it's coming, so instead they enjoy there life until they find out someone they love has cancer.

"Why isnt everyone running around terrified?"

Because that would do none of us any good. And besides, dying is a part of life. We know that already. Good luck with those deathly thoughts. ^_^;

Because we all have to remember that even though we may be dying if we focus on that we won't enjoy our lives. And there is so much we can do in our lives and others if we will focus on other things

We're all going to die some day, so why should we make ourselves miserable by thinking about it constantly?
