Yesterday I opened a pack of chicken but didn't use it all. I asked my husband to put it in the fridge and (I should have known he would do this!) when I looked in the fridge this morning, I found the chicken completely exposed, he didn't wrap it or anything. Just put it in the fridge on a plate open to the air.So my question is this.... Can I still cook that chicken and eat it??

Yes, it's fine.
It really doesn't make a difference if it's covered or not, especially if it was only in the fridge for that short amount of time. It may have dried out somewhat, but it isn't 'bad' or full of any more germs and bacteria than it was before it went into the fridge.

Cook it until the interior temp at the thickest part reads 190F and no worries.
Just for laughs though, when you serve it to him, don't eat it...just stare at him and watch him eat it like you are waiting to see if he falls over. Then keep asking him how he feels.

Hmmm, I would think so as long as the exposed chicken didn't come in contact with other fridge items; The cold and it being on a sanitary plate would lead me to think, yes....cook it, baby!

If it is one day old, open in the refrigerator it is still okay to eat, but it MUST be cooked well.

It won't grow any extra harmful bacteria on it's own because it's unwrapped. If you have other spoiled food in there (wrapped or unwrapped) it could cross contaminate your chicken. Cook thoroughly.

Chicken harbors natural bacteria that are harmful to humans. It already has this bacteria before it gets to your refrigerator. Cook thoroughly..

COOK THOROUGHLY!

You should smell the chicken. I mean, you will be able to tell by how much it does or does not smell if it's bad. If it's already absorbed the smell of everything else in your fridge, it's going to taste nasty. But if there's not much smell to it, you're probably good to go.

Personally, I wouldn't. My mother does that all the time and it drives me crazy.

it is good, as long as you didn't refreeze it after thawing it out.
