EVIL drug. You will have symtoms of withdrawl no matter what so just quit. Since levels build in the blood, withdrawl will begin once levels drop below a certain level and for me that was missing one dose. I ended up in the hospital the first time levels dropped, but since I was familiar with the effects of the dropping levels I was prepared for the withdrawl when I changed meds. Doc just had me drop cold turkey. Had I known what it was like I would have never taken it. The withdrawl is worse than the illness it's supposed to treat.

Weaning off Paxil should only be done under a physician's care. Tell your Doc about your desire to get off of it, and then stick to it, don't let him talk you out of it. He'll likely want to put you on something else.
Some side effects while getting off the drug are rough, but stay in touch with your doc during the weaning process. Prepare your family and let them know that you may be in for some rough days, and have them hang in there with you.
Side effects cannot be anticipated, and they vary from patient to patient. Could be anything from nausea to mild hallucinations, visual distrubances, and even some violent outbursts, depending on the dosage you have been on, and how long you've been taking it.
Hang in there, don't give up. Check out the web for it too; google "Paxil withdrawal."
Good Luck...

I know this isn't a direct answer, but it is something to consider. In the future, you might want consider some alternative medicine solutions to depression. Depending upon the individual's case, it might be a better option for some who seek a more harmonious, and less dependent approach. However, of course, depending upon the severity of the case, this might not be a wise option at the moment and may be reserved for once a person has made significant progress through medicine/therapy. A simple google search for "depression and alternative medicine" will yield some interesting information to consider, which may in the long run bring you to a greater state of overall wellness without the side effects of drugs.

Have you consulted with your doctor on this? He can probably give you the best way to cut down.
You could just cut down to 1/2 of a pill. Do that for 7-10 days. Then cut down to 1/4 for 7 to 10 days. Then off.
But make sure you check with your Doctor!

I know people who have cut the dosage in half for the last two weeks and then stopped taking it. You should never just stop taking it. It takes about two weeks at a low dosage. You should call you doctor's office, and check with them.

It's prescribed for a reason, have you been "cured"? If not, keep taking it until you check with your doctor. If you don't like it's side effects there are many other med options available. Try something else!

never withdraw yourself off of a med without speaking to your doctor. . depending on the milligrams you take, your prescription has to be dropped in doses . . simply stopping your meds can lead to more problems . . if you are not ready to be off of it, I don't suggest weaning yourself
