1 Quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (fresh and unopened). 1/4 cup of Baking Soda. 1 teaspoon of Liquid Soap. Wash while mixture is bubbling. Rinse with water and repeat if necessary. Double the quantities for a medium dog, triple for a large dog. I have heard to suggest putting warm olive oil in the dog's eyes as soon as possible after being sprayed because it causes them a lot of pain from the spraying. I would try eyewash solution. Try to keep the peroxide mixture out of the dog's eyes, though. If your dog is bleeding from his bum or appears to have been bitten, consult a vet! Skunks may carry rabies. If your dog is vaccinated, it is safe from the rabies virus. But you are not. Tomato juice is said to not work. Although the acid in them absorbs, it isn't enough. Tomato juice only neutralizes the odor

Get a bucket
Mix into it 1/2 cup baking soda
two bottles of hydrogen peroxide
and a squirt of liquid dish soap
Sponge on dog and let sot for 10-15 mintues
rinse with plain water
I use this all the time as I live on the farm and mine get shot about every other month or so.
This works WAY better than the tomato juice thing.

Anti-Skunk Scent Shampoo Recipe
Caution: peroxide may lighten dark coat colors.

1 quart hydrogen peroxide
(make sure you are using hydrogen peroxide)

1/4 cup baking soda

1 teaspoon liquid soap

mix well and shampoo.
BEFORE trying this, gather ingredients (do not mix), put dog in tub, make all preparations ready. You can mix the soap and peroxide together but as soon as you add the baking soda it starts to fizz. Sponge it on while it's very active, with special drenching of identifiable skunked areas, then lather and leave it in for a while and rinse.

This site http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/skunk.htm has a few tips, including mentioning that the tomato juice is not completely effective. one thing says: "It is best to bath your dog with a shampoo before the skunk's sulphuric spray dries on the fur. "

There are several products you can buy at the store to de-skunk your dog, which I think work best, but one does not always have them on hand when their dog gets strayed.

The hydrogen peroxide/baking soda one. Our dog got skunked more times than I can count when we lived in the country, and this is the only thing that worked. It doesn't get rid of the odor entirely (I don't think anything except time does that), but it tones it down to a manageable level.

that's a hundred% criminal surprisingly much everywhere to shoot a dogs it particularly is on your components in case you think it to be a threat to you, your loved ones, or any cattle or different kin animals. it fairly is on no account an unusual prevalence, and is between the numerous motives it is so needed for canines to no longer be allowed to roam. the guy who shot the dogs stated it grow to be appearing aggressively, and if it particularly is the case, they have been interior their rights to act as they did. If the dogs wasn't appearing with aggression, no person would be waiting to dispute it, because of the fact there have been no longer witnesses. upload: Nowhere does it say the dogs have been given out by probability. It says purely that the dogs "wandered" onto the neighbor's components. My guess is this grow to be a unfastened-roaming dogs. If the dogs did certainly demonstrate aggression (and that i see no statements from the vendors indicating that is out of character), there is not any longer something in any respect incorrect with the neigbor's strikes. i will particularly see different pictures as being comprehensible have been the dogs exhibiting severe aggression or going after cattle. My neighbor's dogs gutted considered one of my puppy sheep and heavily injured yet another some years lower back. My purely sense sorry approximately grow to be that I ignored when I shot at him because of the gap (and that i did take a number of pictures at him).

Tomato juice is not a legend it really works. Bath tub full of the stuff, scrub him good and let him soak in the stuff, only then add the water to rinse him off. Then, he should be good to go!

Try tomato juice with a mouthwash chaser, seriously, it removes the oils from the skin. There are also commercial "de-skunkers", which also work, but the tomato mouthwash combo is readily available and works well too.

A tomato juice bath will work. Fill the bath tub with juice and bathe him in it. It is not just an urban legend.

The vet will sell you the stuff you need for it. Most drug stores also carry the right stuff. Tomatoe juice, although somewhat effective, is not the best choice.
