It really gets on my nerves. I am able to spell properly, for the record.

In a word, yes.
But then, this seems to be the new style, and language changes. The purpose is communication: If people understand, then the communication is successful. On the other hand, many find the new style distracting, which detracts from the goal.
Only time will tell. If everyone gets used to the new style, and people who object to it die out, then it will become correct.

Yes! I'm a teenager, and I go mad when my friends use incorrect grammar in their writing and formal speaking (which many of them do, far too frequently). My English teacher is as bad as any of them. My pet hates are 'different to' and 'different than', 'the media is', 'if I was' and misuse of apostrophes.

We just get into a hurry and don't see our mist8ks, oops misteaks, oops mistakes. Boy wouldn't it have been a lot easier and faster for me if I just spelled it right in the first place???

I don't like the use of such language as well...you have the time to type you're message, so you can take you're time to spell the words properly
And for someone who doesn't like it, you sure know how to use it :)

sometimes its just because they might be teens, early adults, give them a break, we know how to spell but just want to do what we want to do, you know? like we know grammer, we know how to spell, its just that it feels nerdy to spell the whole word and stuff lke that because i know how to spell and i know grammer, i can write like that also, but some old people like you dont like iit and most of you dont understand it so i have to write in full spelling, argh so annoying
by the way this type of writting also has a name to you know, its SLANG
i LOVE slang
i dont write in slang if i know the person doesnt know how to read it and doesnt like it, thats when i write in real english, not slang english like right now

you know what, you're absolutely right. some instances are understandable, you see, but there are times when the sentences are horrible.. its so horrible, the pronouns and articles are interchangeable.. get this, if its not for the 10points, i wont bother at all! wahahahaha!!
