The safe zone is considered 2lbs per week. I however know that there are several weight loss plans that promise up to 4lbs a week and some over ten the first week! Just remember permanent weight loss is best slow and steady 1/2 to 2 lbs a week!

On an average to lose weight and keep it off you should lose about 2 to 3 pounds per week. If you want to lose more than that quickly you can fast for two week end a month, water mostly no food, but you could get very weak and cause more damage.

Add a little more cardio exercise while you are losing the weight.
Stay away from fast food eat more vegetable and fruits.

If you cut back and lose the 2-3 pounds per and adding a little more exercise you could lose 36 to 40 pounds in those three months and maybe even keep it off for good then you would have be on this roller coaster gained weight and then try to cram to loose it.

Healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds a week. If you don't currently practise healthy eating and exercise however you would likely lose 3 to 4 pounds a week for the first couple of weeks. So to be safe I would say 30 pounds. Check out bodyforlife.com and read Bill Phillips book Body For Life. It's perfect for you as it is a12 week program to healthy eating and exercise and you could win a Million bucks to boot. Good luck.

It depends on how hard you work at it. You can lose about (average) 8 pounds in two weeks. That's about how much I lose. I've gained weight, and I need to lose it all again, so what I do is run early in the morning, and swim in the afternoon, and eat healthy. No need to "cut back"; just eat healthy.

3 pounds a week is consider safe but remember first month your losing mostly water weight so if you want to know your true weight lost drink lots of water so you will know what your true weight lost is and it help clean out the toxic chemicals from your body while your on a diet. I personally went from 235 to 195 in 1/2 year without gaining it back as long as you put on some muscles to help burn off the cals so under 40 pounds is good. remember not to starve yourself because you will hurt you metabolism which will cause you to gain all the weight back once you go off your diet. eat often but in smaller amounts watch what you eat keep off carbs and eat lots of green it will help you lose weight and boost your metabolism. remember to take vitamins during your diets to help keep your body health.

the American college of sports medicine recommends no more than 3-5 pounds per week. so 30-60lbs. But if you don't have 30-60 lbs to lose than you wont be able to lose that much. Just be safe.!

A healthy weight loss in twelve weeks? If you lose 1-2lbs per week which would equal anywhere from 12-24 lbs. It will require a lot of discipline on your end. Eat 500 cal less per day...exercise at least one hour of cardio per day with weight training 3 times per week and drink a minimum of 1.5L of water a day (you will need more during cardio). Restrict fat intake to no more than 24-30 gms per day. High fibre min 20gms per day. It works for me.....good luck.

FACT: the weight you lose fast jumps right back. so you can go on any extreme diet and shed the pounds but they will pile back on as soon as you stop - in fact you will be left with an addition weight GAIN (since your body will try to protect itself in case something like that ever happens again.

If you really want to achieve a reasonable weight and stay down, i suggest you visit an endocrinologist to make sure your thyroid levels are absolutely perfect (thyroid accounts for your metabolic speed), drink lots of water to keep your digestive system moving, and avoid sugar, fat, and refined carbs. Use substitute sugars, and you can still drink diet pepsi and eat sugarfree licorice. try fat free low carb ice cream, eat sugarfree whole wheat bread etc. It all comes down to making a smart decision every time you eat.

Egg whites instead of yolks.
olive oil instead of butter.
tomato sauce instead of ketchup.
etc
