You must have trust for any relationship to survive,I also think you need forgiveness, give and take on both sides!! I'd like to think myself being loyal and pretty laid back and when I found out a partner lied to me about sleeping round after I asked him calmly time after time turned into mental touchier smelling shirts, looking for hairs in the car etc every time he had been out,it would have hurt bad him telling me but saved me the pain of thinking I was insane!I would prefer the truth no matter how bad, deal with it and get on it! I would be very hurt and disappointed but show the person there is no need to lie and can talk to me about anything by showing forgiveness and hope he would talk whatever the problem! If it hap pend again after building trust more fool him he would have lost me!! Good luck hope you get what your after!

Not likely. I may give him a chance to be my friend again, and prove that it was a one-off, but not let him shoot at my heart again until that is proved - and in the years _that_ takes... I doubt that person will have no rivals.

But then, I am strange by most people's standards. I prefer a truth that hurts to a lie that doesn't. Because a lie is eventually found out, and then it hurts quadriple, and I'd rather trust those I commune with.

I have had this happen to me recently where I met someone and they didn't tell me the truth about everything, but I was willing to give them another try. Unfortunately it ended in tears anyway, my tears to be precise, but at least I gave them the chance and the guilt lies with them not me. I think you have to give people a second chance as we all make mistakes and they might turn out ok! If they do it again there is no going back though for me.

It all depends, these thing do not usually have a clear cut answer. If you weren't really in love in the first place, then it is most probably better to go on with your life and ignore the person. But if there was love involved, then it is probably worth fighting for it, if the partner is really sorry.

If you lied early in the relationship then I totally understand that. A lot of people lie in the beginning possibly not realising that they may be with "the one" for them. If you really love them then try to work it out. Good luck :-)

Until recently, I'd have forgiven and forgotten. But recently I've learned that some people lie over and over again. Everyone deserves a second chance, but not a third or a fourth. Oprah says "When people show you how they REALLY are - believe them!"

I may be an exception to the rule but i would give someone s econd chance only because people are humans and we make mistakes . But a person would have to work hard to gain the trust back,

Really depends on what the lie was. If it was a big one that hurt the other person, then i think you'd have blown it then. Also depends on how much the other person likes you and knows you, as they may chose to forgive you. A personal thing really.

It wud depend on what the lie was about but I wud probably forgive him and put it down to nerves cause it is a new relationship but if he lied again he wud be out on his ear

I suppose if you lie to people once it always comes back to you.
Sometimes people make out to be someone they not and you learn afterwards who and what they really are.
Integrity is something very few people have sad but true.
I think superficiality is also something that many people have and I just wish people could be damn honest!
