Scripture shows us the realities of hell and the things that will send you there. Sin will send you to hell but, really, wrong choices are what send a person to hell.
But for those who make the right choices - the choices to be a Christian and to live right - let me show you what's coming your way!
"Then I saw a new sky (heaven) and a new earth; for the former sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea. And I saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, all arrayed like a bride beautified and adorned for her husband....
Then in the Spirit He conveyed me away to a vast and lofty mountain, and exhibited to me the holy (hallowed, consecrated) city of Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God, clothed in God's glory - in all its splendor and radiance. The luster of it resembled a rare and most precious jewel, like jasper, shining clear as crystal. It had a massive and high wall with 12 (large) gates, and at the gates (there were stationed) 12 angels, and (on the gates) the names of the 12 tribes of the sons of Israel were written." (Rev. 21:1,2,10-12 AMP)
Notice the beautiful description of the "holy city" in these verses. For example, imagine jasper that's so clear and so refined that it's crystal clear (v. 11). This is only part of the good things that await God's people!
Look at verse 12. It says that an angel is stationed there at each of the twelve gates to make sure that no one gets in who doesn't belong. Your name has to be in the Book of Life to get past the angel - and let me tell you, he's a bad dude! You may think you're bad, but there's one that's "badder" than you!
Moving to the Holy City
I'm going to describe the rest of the capital city of the new Heaven and the new earth - New Jerusalem - as it's described in Revelation chapters 21 and 22. It is 1,500 miles square. That means that it is 1,500 miles to the north, south, east, and west.
To help you understand how big 1,500 miles is, it's equivalent to the distance between Los Angeles, California, and San Antonio, Texas. Imagine one city that size! And it's not only 1,500 miles north, south, east, and west, but it's also 1,500 miles tall! Talk about a skyscraper!
The Bible says that there are 12 gates to that city, and each gate is 73 stories high. Each gate is made out of a single fine pearl. The foundation of the city wall is made of every kind of precious stone - sapphire, emerald, and so forth.
The Book of Revelation also tells us that every building in the holy city, not just the streets, is made out of gold so refined that it's transparent. You can see through everything because it's so clear. The sun will not be shining in Heaven, because there's no need for the sun. The Bible says that the glory of God is its light. The throne of God is in the middle of the city, and the light from God goes north, south, east, and west through all the transparent streets and buildings. It is the best-lit city that has ever been! It is so well lit, because it's lit by the glory that shines in the face of Jesus.
Then at the very throne of God is a river, which sparkles like crystal and flows through the main street of Heaven. Along each side of the river are beautiful trees which have leaves that bear fruit every month for the healing of the nations.
A Mansion Just for You
People who are in Heaven have homes. Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2).
There are many mansions in Heaven, and they are not like the mansions in Beverly Hills or the places on earth that you think are rich. The richest mansion on this earth cannot touch the gold-encased mansions in Heaven that shine with the very glory of God. And we can live there! Hallelujah!
People learn while in Heaven. If you don't learn how to walk by faith while you're here on earth, then some eight-year-old kid might sit down with you in Heaven and teach you how to walk by faith.
In Heaven, everything is "telepathy." In other words, here on earth, no one can hear me unless I open my mouth and say something. But in Heaven, whatever you think, everyone in Heaven knows it (but all thoughts will be pure!).
In Heaven, you'll get to meet the people you never knew when you were on earth. My son is not my first-born; he's my second-born. My wife and I lost our first child. I never got the chance to hold that little girl, but when I get to Heaven, she's going introduce herself and say, "I'm your daughter." And I'm going to say, "Baby!"
That's the way it is in Heaven. All the babies who've died - even those who were aborted - God is taking care of them. They are alive, and they're going to get to meet a whole lot of folks in Heaven. And some of those children are going be the ones teaching you what to do. You may have been the big-time preacher on the earth, but in Heaven you might have to sit down and get taught by the babies!

The Bible Teaches that only a select number of individuals ffrom the earth would be chosen by God to enter into Heaven after death. They are reffered to as the "little flock", who will rule as kings and priests over the earth as joint heirs with Christ there is actually a specific number, 144,000 who are "bought from the earth". But There Bible also refferes to a "great crowd" who will inherit the earth and will live forever upon it when God and Jesus restore the earth back to a paradise.
What about hell? Hell in hebrew , She'ohl and in Greek Hai'des refer to the common grave of all dead mankind, not individual graves. But many teach falsely that the common grave of all mankind is a place where demons dwell and where the wicked after death are punished with torment. But first the Bible states that the Dead are unaware of pain. The living know they will die, but as for the dead they know nothing at all, there is no work or devising or knowledge in She'ohl -Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10. Therefore the dead know nothing and feel no pain.
Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts* do perish.”
Since the dead have no conscious existence, hell cannot be a fiery place of torment where the wicked suffer in pain after death
Jesus was perfect but still entered "hell" (the common grave of all mankind) after his death. Acts 2:31
Where was the hell to which even Jesus went? The apostle Paul wrote: “I handed on to you . . . that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, yes, that he has been raised up the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4) So Jesus was in hell, the grave, but he was not abandoned there, for he was raised up, or resurrected.
Consider also the case of the righteous man Job, who suffered much. Wishing to escape his plight, he pleaded: “Who will grant me this, that thou mayest protect me in hell [Sheol], and hide me till thy wrath pass?” (Job 14:13, Douay Version) How unreasonable to think that Job desired to go to a fiery-hot place for protection! To Job, “hell” was simply the grave, where his suffering would end. The Bible hell, then, is the common grave of mankind where good people as well as bad ones go.

There is no fiery burning HELL. The Hebrew word translated hell in the Bible means “the grave,” that is, the common grave of all dead mankind. The Bible is very clear in stating that the soul is subject to death, saying: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4, 20) Also, The Catholic Douay Bible, at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, says: “The living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing more. Neither have they a reward any more: for the memory of them is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge, shall be in hell [Sheol, AS], whither thou art hastening.” So, since the “dead know nothing more,” or as the King James Version says, “the dead know not any thing,” it would be impossible for them to know conscious torment. And since there is no work in hell, how can there be activity, red-hot or otherwise?
HEAVEN is where God and his faithful spirit family dwell. These are not creatures of blood and flesh, for they were created before our earth was created upon which we creatures of blood and flesh now live. Those heavenly “sons of God” are spirit, as God himself is, and they are absolutely distinct in nature from us earthly human creatures.
Heaven is also the seat of God's Kingdom (government). Those relatively few from the earth who go to heaven will have a specific purpose there. The Bible tells us that " ... they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years.”—Revelation 20:4-6. Compare also (Rev. 5:6-10) This will benefit all mankind.
God created man from the earth to live on the earth. He did not create humans to live for a little while here on earth then go to live in heaven. Although we all grow old and die now because of Adam and Eve's rebellion, God’s original purpose for the earth will still be fulfilled. In the beginning it was God’s purpose for obedient humans to live forever in an earthly Paradise. And God never fails to accomplish what he purposes! His Word plainly promises: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.
We do have the very real hope of the resurrection and the opportunity to live forever right here on a paradise earth. The Bible tells how Jehovah will bring this about.

Memories?
Unlikely, these are a cognitive response to complex interneural networking of brain cells. No brain = no memories.
Sensations?
Also, unlikely. These are just the processing of information by the brain of neural electrical transmissions from some type of sensory receptor in our bodies. No corporeal body=no sensations.
Sorry so reductionist, but if we do go to a heaven, it will be a much different reality/experience than anything we can currently imagine or experience here as humans.

Yes, we do go to one or the other after the Judgement spoken of in the book of Revelation. We will have our memories in Hell, because we'll be spending eternity in torment wondering why we didn't do things right!

Heaven and hell are best described as states of mind or states of consciousness.
If your heart and mind are attuned with God, if you are one with God then you are already in heaven, so to speak.
If however, in your heart and mind, you believe you are seperate from God, have thoughts only of yourself and on the things of this world, then you are already in hell, so to speak.
So you can see that people's state of mind can be put on a continuum of complete seperation and even hatred of God to complete oneness with God and universal and unconditional love of God.
What I'm trying to say is that people experience heaven or hell in the here and now depending upon their state of consciousness which in turn depends upon the free will choices they have made in this and previou lifetimes.
Having said that, the soul does survive the death of the body and will gravitate toward whatever vibration that it is in tuned with.
A "dark" soul will gravitate to a certain level of what might be called hell and more enlightened souls will gravitate to a certain level of what might be called heaven. These levels correspond to the levels of consciousness discussed above.

No, because once your dead you can no longer feel pain because the brain has died along with the body and the brain produces neurons and receptors for the body to feel pain, pleasure, hear, see, smell, taste, ect. Therefore, hell is pretty much useless as is heaven.

The problem is NONE of us know...it's all a guess and more of a belief than a reality. Take your choice.... I plan on living an authentic life without bothering myself with this difficult question...
P.S. at 66, I guess I'll know before you... unless there is nothing and then neither of us will know... me-dead, you- alive.
