Wisdom is that state that enables us to look at a decision, a thought, or an act, in the same way across time, moods, and other factors.
In many ways, Wisdom is the ability to make correct judgments and decisions. Some think it is an intangible quality gained through experience. Yet others think it is a quality that even a child, otherwise immature, may possess independent of experience or complete knowledge. Whether or not something is wise is often determined in a pragmatic sense by its popularity, how long it has been around, and its ability to predict against future events. Wisdom is also accepted from cultural, philosophical and religious sources; in this sense, wisdom is often listed along side other virtues Insight, Knowledge, and Prudence. Some think of wisdom as foreseeing consequences and acting to maximize beneficial results.
Many modern authorities on government, religion and philosophical ethics say that wisdom connotes an enlightened perspective. This perspective is sometimes defined in a utilitarian way, as effective support for the long-term common good.
As to how to get it, I think it just bears keeping these afore mentioned principals in mind when acting in any given situation.

Wisdom is most likely what you gain from experience, soul searching, and using your mind. In an epistemic sense, we almost never equate wisdom with knowledge (since wisdom seems to be something we can unarguably claim people can obtain - wisdom is often attributed to common sense or good judgment).

There are different kinds of Jnana (knowledge). What is implied by the 'Jnana' is the knowledge of the Atma. It is not concerned with the physical, sensory or worldly knowledge. Atma Jnana (knowledge of the Atma) can be got only by enquiring into the nature of the Atma and not by any other means. It cannot be taught by preceptors or learnt by studying texts. It cannot be received from anyone or offered to anyone. It has to emerge from the inner consciousness. Preceptors and texts can only help to some extent. But the aspirant who seeks Atma Jnana has to embark on self-enquiry to experience this Self-awareness. He should explore and investigate the whole gamut of spiritual experience and arrive at the ultimate Reality. Just as a child learns to speak by watching the mother, the spiritual aspirant has to make the effort himself while listening to the preceptor or studying scriptural texts.

Wisdom does not come with age. Unfortunately we were born with it, and adults mostly crush it. Let me give you an example--"no, you did not see your grandmother, she is dead" Yet, the child can describe what she looked like and never met her. Enough of our parents and siblings telling us what not to believe in crushes the wisdom we were born with. Then, unfortunately we must retrain our brains with school, book, culture etc. Wisdom should not be dependent on others view of you, only your opinion should matter to you. If you feel you would like more answers, ask them, then find them. Remember, a wise-man is only as wise as his health. You will never find a wise-man with poor health, both physically and mentally.

Wisdom is not taking yourself too seriously. After all, nobody else does.
The only way to obtain it is to develop a healthy sense of humor.

God is wisdom. If you want some ask him for it in Jesus' name.

Exd 31:3 "And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,"

Of course you do the work, don't expect for things to pop in to your head. He'll will give you the ability to learn and to understand.
