an answer to duklink person, if they are fighting among themselves, what do u say about the continuous war between the Eastern and western Churches... hell my god, we ev got two different days for the birth of Christ . you can not even agree on the birth of Christ
Julia , jurlis. is originally a Muslim land not any other thing and the crusades are nothing but blood thrist and hunger for power wars , it was not at all holyyyyyy.... and as for the conversion into Islam , well it makes sense that you pay if you are not under Islam, this money that Christians paid was to be sent to the Christians who were poor and could not convert. and if you did not want to convert you were left alone By the way the ones who used to kill christians were the romans not muslim , islam came to those lands you are talking about , and freed them from romans who used to kill , annihilat and persecute christians, As far as i know , prophet mohamed married a christian egyptian woman upon conquering romans ,,, read history honey ...
sweety , get your head out of the tube , and go beyond what the media is feeding you ... you will know the truth.

Don't confuse real Christians with Catholics. The catholic church was created by Satan himself and the Bible comments this: "And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." Revelation 18:2-5
Did you know that for the the St. Peters Cathedral the hired 150,000 prostitutes so they can make money to build it? Or they for over a thousand years killed real christians for telling the truth, translating the Bible, saying that the wine and the cracker (if forgot what it is called) is just a simbolism. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews: "Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore." Hebrews 7:27,28
He sacrificied himself only once for us. The mass doen't bring down Jesus from heaven to die again, that is blasefemy. If you read Revelation 17 and 18 you will see that it's directly talking about the Catholic system. The babilonian cult invented the confession system, 'Queen of the Universe' Semaris(old), Mary(new), and many other practices that the catholics have. Another thing FYI in the languages of Hebrew, Latin and Greek each letter has a number significance and in the popes crown the words add up to 666. The christians that were sent to the lions to be killed were the true christians. The word christian means immitator of Jesus. Would Jesus burn a witch? Would Jesus command to kill other people for His name (crusaders)? No. Judgement is his alone (Romans 8). If this offends anyone I'm sorry, but the truth has no friends.

It's telling that you have to go back at least a thousand years in history to dig up all these bad things that "Christians" did.
Of course, if you could come up with more recent examples of "Christian" misbehavior, your argument would be stronger. But as you couldn't, it isn't.
By the way, your description of the Crusades was oversimplistic. It also ignored the fact that they were primarily meant to drive out of the Holy Land the Muslim invaders who were really the ones who did all this slaughtering and killing.
And it was Muslims who, during the Middle Ages, had the corner on giving people the choice between death or forcible conversion into their religion -- something that in some parts of the world they still do today.
How convenient of you to omit this from your attempt at describing history.
More people have been persecuted, imprisoned, exiled, and killed in the name of THE STATE than in the name of anything else on this earth put together.
But you totally ignore this and take shots at Christianity instead? Why is that?
Is it because Christianity teaches things that don't jive with your lifestyle -- hence your need to discredit and defame it?

And let's not forget the Irish troubles, with the Protestants and the Catholics bombing and beating each other up. And let's not forget the anti-gay rants, and the anti-Catholic/Jewish/Whatever smears, and the anti-science bashes. Just to bring things up to date a little. Because these Christians always go for a "that was then" excuse. That and rewriting history and complaining that others rewrite it when they are corrected.
But hey, don't stop at the Christians, like they are the only ones. Every religion has some form of peace, love, and brotherhood doctrine built into it. And this had made no difference whatsoever in human behavior. Religion by itself completely fails to regulate human violence. It is secular laws and their secular enforcement that keeps human violence dampened down.

According to Foxes' book of martyrs the Catholic Church killed 68 million during the 1000 years known as the dark ages! The Jews were also religious believe that the messiah would come, but when He (Jesus) came, they killed him! Remember thanks to Bush we now have 5 Catholics on the Supreme Court for the first time in history! If Church and State are joined back together there will be more executed in the name of religion!

You said that "In 1122 Christian crusaders swept over Jerusalem ...". Now, in their defense, one may say that for doing that, how would you call them christian? And those other people who you said claimed to be chrisitian? They could be "christian" in title only, as in they declare they are, but are really not; Just as one can say he is muslim, and perform acts of terrorism. Can they still be muslim?
This applies to any religion, or belief, or any principle at all. I may call myself a liar, but if all the words that I say somehow ring true, would I still be a liar? I may call myself a pianist, and yet not know anything about playing a piano.
In conclusion, I declare myself emperor, and declare all of you my slaves.

. If you want to see a bloodthirsty history, research Islam, or Communism. Christians are human beings and therefore capable of evil, like all human beings are. Remember, though, that the ideal is "turn the other cheek", and there are those who follow Christ with sincerity...just not everyone who uses the name of "Christian".

Not necessarily an answer--but something to think about. What if we did not have religion in this world. We are always asking the Almighty for something, or blaming him/her. What if we had faith in ourselves as humans, and treated one another like Gods. Think of all the wars that would end, all the fighting etc.

Unfortunately everyone that does things under the name of Christianity are not Christians. Jesus taught love, and that loving him was a choice--or it would not be love. Mary is not a Divinity, so Hail Marys will get you nowhere. Jesus is the one who can forgive, for he died for that purpose--to forgive!

Judging a religion as a whole is just like judgeing a race as a whole. You can't assume they all are bad because every group of people has "bad apples." We will all eventualy be judged accordingly, and it is not our place to judge everyone else. Faith, Hope, and Love. The greatest of these is Love.
