When I am near someone chewing and clicking gum it annoys me to the point that I have to leave. Am I the only one in the world that feels this way

Yes, it is gross. Some people think they look cool though....

No, you're not the only one who feels this way, but some people chew gum to combat a smoking habit. Some people chew gum to cover up bad breath. There are many reasons why people chew gum. Smacking it and/or blowing bubbles is just the entertainment of it.
I don't chew gum much because of the dental work I have in my teeth, but if someone had bad breath, I'd much rather them chew their gum in my face than to have the wind knocked out of me from their bad breath.

Gum chewing itself has been shown to increase mental acuity, block hunger pangs, and clean teeth, so it does have its benefits. The real problem lies in the way people chew gum. How often have you seen the slack-jawed chew approach, as if breathing in through one's nose while chewing has not yet been discovered? If people can chew their food without opening their mouths then they can chew gum without doing the same. And the gum cracking can stop, too.

Chewing gum noisily is rude but I wouldn't just leave I would have to politely say something first

It depends on the location. As the area gets smaller, the sound of clicking gum gets more audible and thus increasingly irritating.

It is very annoying. Why don't people just chew their gum right. I don't get it.

No. I don't have that problem, but I dated a guy once that his father would demand you to spit the gum out if you were chewing gum. He even asked his mother-in-law to spit her gum out. He was slightly psycho and rude, respect your elders.

I don't like it either. I also dislike watching someone chomp their gum with their mouth open. It cracks me up to see a woman dressed to the nines, walking around like she's a princess, and smacking her gum. It just looks trashy.

No, you're not the only one who feels that way.

Gum chewing & clicking, cracking is disrespectful of others. It shows lack of education & manners.

I don't leave. I tell them to their face not to act like a five year old child. Or I tell them that dogs and pigs also chew with their mouths open, while human beings close theirs.

If they don't have the civility to those their mouths, they don't deserve any from me. Or you.

No I don't think that you are the only one that feels that way, but maybe that is your pet peeve. Sometimes it bothers me and sometimes it doesn't but never to the point that I have to get up and leave.
