It depends on what you are doing to your hair. If you are lightening your hair. Then yes. Everytime you do it, you damage it a little more. If you color it blonde, lighten it, bleach it, high-light it--whatever...anytime you take color out, you take out vital strength and nutrients that your hair thrives on. If you darken your hair, then no. You are depositing color. If anything, your hair may be stronger and healthier when you darken your hair. If you lighten your hair, its best to try and compensate for the damage that you cause. 1st by using salon products-always. Then by doing monthly, bi-monthly or even weekly reconstructing treatments. I guess it depends on the damage. But when your hair gets to a certain point, the only thing you can do it cut it. I have seen a girl that had hair down the middle of her back--and she had a fetish for coloring her hair dark then a few weeks later she would lighten it to a platinum color. We told her that if she continued to do this that her hair would literally fall out. One day she came in the salon and wanted her hair lightened, and we warned her that her hair was too damaged and that her hair couldn't handle it. She insisted. After we took the foils out of her hair--her hair came with it. She left the salon with her hair above her ears.

Yes it does, I have streaks in my hair and color and it didn't break off to the point that I'm bald but you can see the different lengths of where my hair was, The thing to do if you get color is to make sure it doesn't dry out and don't put too much heat to it.

not if the color is done correctly. Overprocessing happens where color or lightner is overlapped over color or lightner. If you are worried about the damage you NEED to MAKE SURE that you are using the proper developer for the process the higher the developer the stronger color.
