It has nothing to do with cigarettes keeping you thin as much as it is the cigarette keeping you from putting anything else in mouth to eat.

Cigarettes keep you thin for two main reasons. Firstly, they are associated with reduced appetite so that you don't fancy eating too often too much. Secondly, nicotine tends to 'dumb' the taste buds so that food does not taste so good anymore.

technically, cigarettes curb your craving of food by blasting your body with a dose of nicotine. It has also been said that "idle hands are the devil's playground", so if you have a ciggy in your hand it is not likely that you will be eating. Ergo..the more you smoke the less you eat.

nicotene in cigarettes curves your appetite and smoking burns up to 200 calories a day.

plus when people try to quit they use food as a replacement to cigarettes. obviously if you eat more you're going to lose weight.

smokers should try to replace smoking with something else besides eating. i know its easier said than done. if you are going to eat more try to make it healthier snacks and exercise more. if you eat healthy and or exercise you won't gain as much weight.

cigarettes are all about cravings , just like snacking . When you
give in to a cigarette craving you are much less likely to have
a craving for a snack . Its a trade off ; giving to the cigarette
craving or the snack craving . (be fat or dead) just kidding .

Nicotine is an appetite suppressant. People who smoke, don't eat as much as people who don't. The same is true of people who are heroin and cocaine addicts.
