Lance Armstrong's mother was his inspiration! As a child Lance witnessed his mother survive an abusive relationship. His mother was a strong person who made it through the constant abuse! He had promised his mother as a child that he would always be a strong person. Lance was a successful person who had hardened his heart toward people. When he was diagnosed with cancer--he was determined not to allow the cancer to destroy him. He was bicycling before he had cancer, but after the cancer and during his remmision stage he trained daily--some viewers thought that he was abusing his body too much and he was tested several times for illegal drugs.

lance got most of his inspiration from his dad leaving him and his morther when he was a young boy. it set the tone for not fitting in at school and searching for an activity that he could excel at. Especially a non team sport. They say he turns the pedals in anger not inspiration. He loves to make everyone else suffer and this comes from a very dark and painfull place within him.

Cycling related, I would say it was Miguel Indurain. He regularly spoke with Miguel and received advice on how to ride the Tour.

Personally, I think it was his mother. His mother supported him all the way and did all she could to get him to where he is. She sacrificed a lot to get him to where he is today.
