A true Mormon is a devout and true Christian. They believe their lives should perfectly agree with the will of God. The term “Mormon” when properly translated means more good. It has been used in derision against the followers of Jesus under Joseph Smith; even as the name Christian was used against the followers of Jesus under Peter. Christian is defined as a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ. Joseph Smith taught, “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.”

“Mormonism” is a term applied to the collective beliefs of the latter day saints. What is a Mormon is explained in their unique beliefs, demonstrated by their devout life style, and evidenced by their persecutions. The term Mormon originated with the Book of Mormon published by Joseph Smith in 1830. Joseph Smith claimed that through angelic calling and revelation he recovered and translated a record of the former inhabitants of the Americas —Native Americans. The record was published in 1830, as the Book of Mormon. It was given that name because it is an abridgement of the record of that people made by the Prophet Mormon. The latter day saints believe in the authenticity of this record. They do not believe that it replaces the Bible; but that it adds an additional testimony of Jesus; and it is the record of a people whom Jesus identified as “other sheep” that were of the house of Israel (John 10:16 ). A Jewish Prophet by the name of Lehi was commanded of God to lead his family out of Jerusalem in 600 BC. It tells of this people living in Central and North America , of their cities, and of their temples. Knowledge of such a people was never known in America until the work Antiquarians, in Central America by Stephens and Catherwood published in 1843.

Mormons make the claim that they believe in Jesus just as Christians do. This is something like saying everyone with the first name of John is the same person. The Mormon claim on who Jesus was/is is completely different from the Christian claim. The differences are subtle on the surface but once you get past the basics you see a marked contrast. Mormons have unique practices from Christians and while they often make the claim that they are "like cousins" to Christians you might look at Galatians 1:8-9.

Although many Christians believe that "Mormons" are not Christian, we believe that we are Christian. We certainly do have different beliefs than others, but then so do the other branches of Chrstianity. We don't believe that we are Catholic or Protestant. We believe that the fullness of the gospel was lost with the deaths of the Apostles and that it was restored by Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith in the early 1800s.

I am not sure why people think Mormons are Christians. They are not. Christians believe that in order to be saved you must confess your since and accept Jesus as your personal savior. Mormonism is a cult. In order to reach their higher plane it's not good enough to believe in Jesus, you must also believe in the founder of the religion (Joseph Smith) to get to heaven.

The Pope isn't appreciably respected by technique of Christians outdoors of Roman Catholicism. And what you look putting forward is that you disagree better with the individuals than you do the beliefs of Christianity. absolutely everyone with an agenda for Christianity except searching human beings purely so that they are in many circumstances kept from sin, and protecting them contained in the religion is morally corrupt and may no longer be considered an effective celebration of a Christian. All Christians represent to the international what Christ may do, yet in case you do not act like you should you're a foul celebration.

Yes Mormons are Christian. Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said:
"We are Christians in a very real sense and that is coming to be more and more widely recognized. Once upon a time people everywhere said we are not Christians. They have come to recognize that we are, and that we have a very vital and dynamic religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ."

"We, of course, accept Jesus Christ as our Leader, our King, our Savior...the dominant figure in the history of the world, the only perfect Man who ever walked the earth, the living Son of the living God. He is our Savior and our Redeemer through whose atoning sacrifice has come the opportunity of eternal life."

"Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pray and worship in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the center of our faith and the head of our Church. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ and witnesses of His divinity, His life, and His Atonement."

Mormons are not Christians! They will tell you that they are, but they think God is just a man that attained godhood by being a good guy and worshipping another god, that also was just a man, etc.

I also belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a Christian. I do worship my Heavenly Father. I do have a personal relationship with him. I do know that Jesus Christ personally atoned for the sins of the world so that all could return to live with our Heavenly Father. I very much love him for that. I am a Christian, and it offends me when people biasedly strip that title from me. Jesus Christ is the center of our religion. His name is in the title of our Church.
