Depends on what country you live in Dizzil. First off, anyone in the commonwealth can get a two year holiday maker visa for the UK for a small fee. If you live in the US (which I am assuming you are), it may be much more difficult for you to get a work visa. check out a UK immigration website and see what kind of visas are offered to non-commonwealth countries, there may be a type of holiday maker for you, but I am not positive.

Secondly, opening a bank account is a nightmare!!! You need your National Insurance Number, a place of residence in the UK and a job. The problem is: it is a very cyclical process. You need a place of residence for a NIN, but you need a job to get a residence, and of course, a NIN to get a job... whew, fun stuff huh? If you have enough money upfront (1000pounds I think), you may be able to open an account from your home country, which I heard is much much easier than when you get over there (I did the latter and it sucked).
The easiest bank to deal with is probably the Bank of Scotland or Barclay's. Some of the others were a pain. Just do a search in Yahoo for either and you will find them.

You have to be sponsored either by

* a person
who will be legally & financially responsible for you, they will also have to prove they have money to support you & somewhere for you to live.

* a business
they have to prove you are the only person suitable for your job & that no U.K resident could do it as good as you

work permits - many immigrants have to wait at least a year sometimes more before they are allowed to work

You need to be a registered U.K citizen to get a bank account with identification papers showing you are legally entitled to live here

Why do people like Saz and Button_Mushroom get up in the morning? Shut up you 2 or get a life. This person wants tocome here legally to make a better life. I'd personally rather have them ehre and exchange their place for yours..bloody BNP members..

Oh, and the above guy, intruder. Shove off back to the '50s, your band of ignorant ramblings was enjoyed then.

The usual way is to hide in a shipping container and jump out at a motorway service area. The rest is easy.

Firstly you need to be sure you can support YOURSELF and not just live off our benefit system. You might not have recourse to public funds on your visa anyway. We have high unemployment our weather sucks as do our football team. we pay one of the highest amounts of tax in the world. and you want to live here ? Why ? You will have to travel through France to get here i assume. so stay there. better weather,football team and low taxes.
