I really understand how you are feeling'. I'm very sorry to hear that the doctor thinks its nothing. But your longs are sensitive, so, when someone is smoking, you have the hardest time breathing. The best thing you can do is avoid it. But if that's not a possibility, then go ask for a second opinion.
If that don't help, put an add on again. And I will make sure that I have more info on this thing.
I swear.

Sounds to me that you are having an allergic reaction to the second hand smoke that you are experiencing. My suggestion is to change doctor or try to see a doctor that specializes in allergies. Personally I am a smoker and I try not to smoke around people that don't smoke or at least down wind from them so that they don't get my smoke. I choose to smoke but I know that people that are not smokers don't get to choose to experience the smoke.

sounds like Asthma. Asthmas comes in all differnet forms. You don't have to have trouble catching your breath the way they show it on t.v.

Go see an immunologist who specialized in alleriges and asthma. Get tested. Make sure it is a skin test.
It is not uncommon by any means for people with Asthma to have trouble around smoke

Same happens to be, I have allergies to it and I get asthma-like symptoms, which seems like what you have. Definitely go see another doctor and get a second opinion. If your first doctor says it's nothing then he was being irresponsible for not listening to your worries!

i also have the same issue with smoke. But smoke of any kind, cigarette, cigar, pipe, fire etc. I think that smokers should be a little more conciderate of others. I find it annoying that all clubs/pubs etc are filled with smoke (and its illegal in my country to smoke indoors and in public places).

Maybe you don't like the smell so much that you literally stop breathing in order no to inhale. Why don't you excuse yourself and go out?
