My 3 and 1/2 year old son gets pimples.. worse than I did when I was a teenager, all over his body. Arms , legs, face, back, rear.. I don't know why he would be getting pimples. Also, every few days his chest, back and arms fill with tiny raised red dots that look like ingrown hairs or something. They go away and come back. I keep getting told allergies, but they won't give me anything and tell me to cover him with baby lotion that doesn't work.. what could this be and are there any suggestions how to fix it?

When they first told us allergens, we removed EVERYTHING from the home, and we have never had any pets, and we don't take him any places with cats or dogs.

Whoever is telling you that it is allergies is just guessing. My first thought with allergies is not environmental, though, I was thinking it was coming from food. You could try to keep a log of what foods you eat and when the outbreaks occur. I don't know if that would be helpful, though, because you don't know for sure that it's coming from food even. It's a lot of stabbing in the dark. A doctor can also perform an allergy test, to determine the origin, IF it is allergies. However, the doctor will be reluctant to do it, because it is NOT fun, it requires a lot of poking.

However, I don't think in this case the doctor would be the best expert. Try to get a referral to see a dermatologist. After all, determining the cause of skin problems is their job, but I doubt even they could make a diagnosis over the Internet. So, I think seeing a professional is your best option.

I know this sounds crazy but if worst comes to worst take her to see an OBGYN. Sometimes girls have hormone imbalances. After my little sister of 14 at the time went on a birthcontrol medication she no longer had acne as bad. I mean proactiv is suppose to be the best and I am a person to definetly subscribe to the bandwagon since i have 6 people i know that use proactiv. My little sister had this problem and went to the dermatologist and got some treatments and it helped.
