Please don't give me a whole lecture about Love. I understand what Love is. I've read 1Cor. 13, many of times. I am a Christian for many many years, but I want to see if anyone truly understand this verse.

Please give an answer straight to the point, thanks.

It means God is the very personification of love. He is the source of love. Of God's four cardinal attributes, love is the most outstanding one, the one that identifies what sort of God he is.

"God is love" is one of many statements in the Bible that list personality traits of God. Do not confuse it with the statement "Love is God". They are not the same thing.

Other Bible statements about God's personality include:
God is a consuming fire - Deuteronomy 4:24
God is merciful - Deuteronomy 4:31
God is a jealous God - Deuteronomy 6:15
God is gracious and merciful - 2 Chronicles 30:9
God is holy - Psalms 99:9
God is merciful - Psalms 116:5
God id pure - Proverbs 30:5
God is righteous - Daniel 9:14
God is true - John 3:33
God is faithful - 1 Corinthians 1:9
God is wise then men - 1 Corithians 1:25
God is light - 1 John 1:5

A lot of question that people have (usually the "how or why...if God is love" variety) can be answered by simply realizing there is more to him than just "love". Like any real, reasonable and rational person, his personality can not be captured in a single word or trait.

Gee, you ask for an explanation of what that phrase means, yet limit us in not using the definition of one of the words?

That's sort of like asking us to prove God exists without using the word God lol.

It means wherever there is Love, there is God. It means that God is patient, kind, etc., yeah, just like in Corinthians.

Sort of hard to not say what Love is and explain what Love is.

God is love...

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

1 John 3:16 "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."

What it means to me is that God loves me unconditionally, no matter what. He love me so much, he send his son to die for me. I I try to remember that everyday, That God loves me that much, he must want the best for me and for everybody. This is how I feel.
