Credit cards and travelers checks are good. Most places accept US currency. If necessary, you can have your money changed at any bank. Don't worry about changing it ahead of time. The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. Antigua is one of my absolute favorite places in the world! I was married there.

I would take as much as you can afford in a mixture of 25% cash, traveler's checks and make sure you have a credit card as back up. Remember US$1.00 = EC$2.67 so that will give you some idea of the currency ratio. It really depends on what type of holiday you really want to have or can afford to have should the amount you should take.

just got back. from there ( Tuesday the 11th).......it's about as expensive as anywhere else so if you spend a 100 a day US at home or in St Thomas or Jamaica, then figure a hundred a day...and to convert EC dollars to US dollars, multiply times point 4........ie $5 EC is $2 US.....so when you see a steak dinner is listed as $80, don't choke!
Travelers Checks are always wise, but somewhat hard to cash.....everywhere takes US dollars and Visa/MC, most Amex..

Its summer in Antigua, and many places are closed......call ahead for lunch-dinner........there was only one restaurant.......the Dry Dock, excellent, ask for Tony....open in Falmouth-English Harbour.........enjoy!
