Go to microsoft.com and download XP SP2. It is a free download. But be warned that it can take an hour or two to download (huge file) and another hour to install.

You don't "convert" your XP to SP2. SP stands for the Service Pack and the latest version is called SP 2.
What I would suggest is that you go to the Microsoft update which you'll find in the left hand side column of the page that'll open when you click on the link I've given you below and then go through the process.
You had better understand that the SP2. works well only if you have genuine Windows XP, Home or Pro edition. If your Windows is a pirated version, you'll have trouble with SP 2.
Please check this with your computer supplier before you proceed.
Cheers,
M G

Use your Windows update, it will tell you that you should download and install the service pack 2 (SP2). You have to download and install it separate from other updates and it takes a little longer then most. Your windows update will see you do not have it when it checks for updates for your computer. Once you download and install it, you will be set. Don't do the save option for installing it, you will just have to find it and then install it. Just open and install it from the same location. I hope that helps.
