Women have just as many claims as men
The difference is most Women's claims are for low speed 'dings' with no one else involved other than an occasional gate post.
Most men's claims involve a third party and a major claim, So get a higher risk element to their premiums.

RE :Diamond car insurance for women?!?
What is with that advert "Diamond Car Insurance for Women"? Women are meant to be the safest drivers. According to statistics, the only reason people think women are safer drivers is because they make a claim on their boyfriends/husbands car insurance when they have an accident. I am most certainly not a sexist male and I am all for equality but I just think it's unfair to have a car insurance just for women and try to make out like men are terrible drivers. I mean imagine the uproar if there were a car insurance company JUST for men (before the diamond insurance was available) ? What are your views on this people?

Statistically women have twice as many claims as men but this is for trivial things like backing into a street light but men's claims cost twice as much as all those women's claims because they write off cars in their claims more often than women therefore the cost of insuring men is a lot more that the cost of the ladies put there so although Diamond is technically being sexist they are no more 'ist' than e-sure only covering safe drivers with 4 or more years no claims or Saga covering only over 50s. They are choosing the statistically safer people to insure. But I do hate the adverts (and Sheila's wheels!!!!) and I am female.

Hello,
I used to work in a motor claims department and can confirm that the vast majority of claims are from men not women. Diamond recognise this and by sending out the message that they only insure women says that their customers are the least likely to claim therefore they can offer cheaper insurance.
At the end of the day an insurer offers to underwrite a risk and charge the appropriate premium for that risk.
No matter who you go with, if you have had previous claims then you will face a higher premium regardless.

JIMBOB. You are not FORCED to follow too close. You are required by law to keep a safe distance from the car ahead of you regardless of the speed limit. What forces you to break the law is called road rage. I think half of the people who drive below the limit are men. When you tailgate YOU are putting the people behind you in danger. They can't see the slow car and wont know if it stops untill you hit it.
The diamond insurance is just a gimmic that plays on sexism to sell insurance. Only the drivers with good driving records get the discounted insurance rate same as any other company.

I think it is unfair too, there is more than Diamond, there is Sheila's Wheels, as well as more.
Its a statistic women are no safer than men, however they are slower and as a result nearly all the accident claims by women are for smaller amounts (less damage done in low speed collision) where as men tend to drive slightly faster (not unsafely) and there fore have accidents at higher speeds, and cost more to repair. The amount of claims made is something like 55% Women and 45% men, But the men's average payout was £3,700 and women was £1,400. That is why they deem them safer drivers, when in actual fact, they are no safer than any man, just an advertising scandel.

You don't get as many girlracers as you do noy racers, we don't tend to have testosterone flowing through our veins and we dont' feel we have to proove ourselves unlike quite a few men who seem to be trying to make up for something. Women also have a natural tendancy to protect others, its part of our mothering instincts I reckon. As for being forced to tailgate a woman obeying the speed limit its your choice to drive stupidly close to someone and it is reckless behaviour, you should have your licence taken away for it.
Jimbob, you believe that women cannot cope with complicated machinery, well then I suggest you go back to a time before females were allowed to become engineers, maybe the 18th Century! I'm a woman and an Engineer with 2 good Engineering degrees now working in Aerospace designing aircraft components.
You obviously have a problem with women or are insecure about your masculinity get a life and get over it.

I agree with you
To be honest, women are in general, attrocious drivers. They CAUSE more accidents than they are in. The amount of times I am forced to tail gate a slow woman driver, and I mean FORCED, going a ridiculous speed UNDER the limit, it's dangerous for me, and guys behind me ..... I don't think women should be allowed to operate machinery, it's a proven fact that they are unable to understand and deal with the complexities of it, which is why they spend most of the time doing make up and playing with dolls instead of looking where they are going

I actually asked Diamond this question and it turns out that although they are "specifically for women" so as not to be done for sexism they will insure me..........at an inflated price
