Well, we cannot very well be born without them, as of yet.
But we can live without parents - there are plenty of orfans and children of broken-up families, and always have been. But, although it sometimes may turn out ok, it is painful, lonely, and damaging - and I tell you, very very few parents are worse than having no parents at all. Not to mention that invites ignorance, when there is nobody to direct your study efforts and enforce regular exertion.
At a later age... come on, those people gave you life, you cannot just pretend they aren't there. Although you can, when you come of age, move out, and that makes keeping up the relationship much much easier, emotionally.
Of course, there are families where things turn out very badly - abusive parents, psychotics... you name it. But even a more or less normal family has a very complex dynamic where children and youngsters may feel miserable. But in most cases families are only partially disfunctional, and, with proper help, things can work out in the end.

Because when you are born you are helpless and would die without being fed changed and held. (Yes if a baby is not held and cuddled it will wither up and die.) Then when you get a bit older you would proboably kill yourself jumping off a couch or something because no one was there to tell you no. Then you become a teenager and well, there are kids that did grow up without their parents guidance, and most of them are pregnant or in jail. Or both. Without limits and boundaries (which parents seem to be so good at) the whole world would be a wreck until the population all died!

Man is a social animal . No man / woman however powerful / rich / influential etc , cannot live without other human interaction. Human beings psychology is made in such a way that it need stimulation by way of social interaction . So we need parents who have / may have brought us up and loved and forgiven all our little faults . etc.,.

You would have to grow up, get a job, pay your own bills ( House payment or Apartment rent, electric, water gas or propane, food, clothing, entertainment, medical cares ) and while you still know everything, like most teenagers do. So have a ball, and welcome to the ranks of the tax payer ( Forgot about that one too, Huh? )
