If you truly love and care about someone you do not see it as a sacrifice, rather enjoying time with that person(s). Any good realtionship requires 100% from each person involved. This does not mean that each one has to give 100% all the time. It all balances out in the long run.

You should never have to sacrifice anything to be in a happy relationship. If that individual has a problem with you the way you are, then send the packing!

My first bet is EGO. This is so difficult to put aside but once you learn to compromise, try to make situations win-win rather than win-lose, everything else comes into place. This, however, provided you don't overdo it! Otherwise it all ends up down the drain.
Following from this, we need to sacrifice our MOUTH for our EARS. We need to learn to LISTEN.

Time : As we need to spend time developing intelligent relationships. Longevity makes relationship valuable.
Individualism: As we need to conform at times. Also social beings need to unite around something.
Effort: Because good relationships require effort The effort takes the form of contributions we make to building relationships.

Ego. One must think of others first, and themselves second. If you think of yourself first all the time, you will take on the persona of someone who is a spoiled brat. It may be "cute", but it isn't very smart; not if you want friends and someday, a family.

Self. We have to be self-less. We have to yield to the best interests of other over our own interests.
