Breathe in through your nose out through your mouth....drink water the night before...take a motrin an hour or so before...when you get cramps, really practice that breathing technique...kinda over exaggerate it..dont look at the floor....widen your stride while running...dont tie your shoes to tight...drink water!!! oh...and dont stop if you stop the cramps will hurt more...just slow down a little but pick it back up when they feel better...dont walk!!!

This is a relatively short run. Run with your legs, not your upper body. i am serious. Alot of people run while pushing their chests out and expanding the lungs, which will only exhaust you.
Get out today and give it a try to see how you do.
If this is your first stab at running, then go easy on yourself. I bet others feel the same way you do. The average person can do a five K run in 35 minutes easily enough, so take it from there.

Eat some complex carbohydrates (baked potato or pasta...) for dinner, drink water, get good rest, don't eat too huge of a breakfast in the morning (but do eat), take deep full breaths while running, and look straight ahead - not at the ground - while running. Good Luck!!!!

Get a good night's sleep tonight, eat well balanced meals today and eat light tomorrow, be sure to drink plenty of water, and pace yourself by not running too fast to begin and wearing yourself out. And don't forget to warm up including stretching prior to the test.

And don't stress out over it; it's just a test, it's not the rest of your life :)

Don't start too fast. Go at an easy pace. See that you don't begin to pant. This ensures that your body is getting enough oxygen..you can go on without giving up...

2.4 km is not much. I do 8-10 km at a time, at least 3 times a week..

Good luck!

Water, today and tomorrow, can't say enough about hydration even on a short distance such as your run. This should be a piece of cake if you in any sort of physical condition?
