They are two different wars. Arguably, the war in Iraq is about access to oil reserves. This is to some extent true also of the war in Afghanistan, but the major reason is the threat to civilisation posed by the production of drugs in Afghanistan and by religious extermists there, although the two are related because the promotion of Muslim extermism (unlike the moderate views of most Muslims) suits drug overlords.
Of the two, the war in Afghanistan is the more laudable and moral (if any war is justified) and indeed important economically given the costs of drug addiction. Given the difficulties encountered in getting sufficient international forces to promote democracy in Afghanistan, they should never have been entangled in Iraq (apart from any other reasons).

After 9/11 US along-with its allies got a bait to raise war aganist Osama bin Ladin. Rightly So! But with thousands of people being killed everyday in Iraq and Afghanistan, The war has become a war for oil and interests. Whosoever raises his voice aganist the attrocities forced on the populace of Iraq, he/she is deemed to get labelled as a terrorist or something like that. So if you really want to know about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, read Chomsky, Zinn, Arundhati, and so many authors who have covered these areas with extensive research.

Unless under direct and imminent threat a nation should not really go marching onto the soil of other nations. Neither USA or GB were under immenent threat from Saddams Iraq. There is no such thing as collatoral damage or friendly fire it is not friendly if it hits you and what does it like to feel like collataral damage. Your are dead or injured the same wether you were in a building and a jet liner commanded by hijackers hits you or you are off to the local bazzar in Iraq and a cruise missile just happens to drop in.
Also your love ones left behind are going to be equally resentful and likely to take issues with you be you crazy hi - jacker or cruise missile commander.
Retribution and reverge are powerful emotions; civilisation a thin venneer far easier removed than what we in the cossetted west like to think.

Sorry - THIS IS THE ANSWER TO A DIFFERENT QUESTION...!!!
Because, along with the USA's blind rubber-stamping of just about every damned thing that Israel does, America's mishandling of these two disasterous war-zones happens to be easily the most crucial problem facing the world today. Infinitely more important, for example, than the goings-on in the Big-Brother house - or even Wayne Rooney's foot...!

Because we're all a bit frightened of the consequences, also because some people have family there, be they in the forces or civilians! Also because no one likes to think of any war torn country, even though we don't know the people, we're all someobody's child, somebody's wife/partner, somebody's mum and it feels awful because we can all imagine how it would be like if it was us. We've had two world wars in Europe, all heard grand-parents/parents tell us about it, how it affected their lives so to know it can still happen, is still happening makes us wonder if man will ever learn to live in peace!

well shayra it is and is going to be a tough road, but what we are doing is the right thing, we are not only eliminating terrorist and a murdering dictator but we are bringing a freedom to people who have not tasted what it is to be free in a long time. Saddam and his cronies are responsible for the deaths of more than 300,000 Innocent people many of which never had a trial of any kind, he is also responsible for murdering over 100,000 Kurds mostly woman and children. in Afghanistan woman can finally go to school, this was forbidden under the Taliban, the Taliban was responsible for giving safe passage to terrorist (IE. those who flew the planes into the world trade center. and as for the w.m.d,s that supposedly were never found, my team was personally responsible for locating 9000 pounds of cerin and mustard gas artillery rounds, these are outlawed by the world security council.....so what we are doing is the right thing to do, and it will be a long road to walk with many more hardships to face..............then i heard the voice of the lord saying, ''whom shall i send? and who will go for us?" and i said, "here i am send me!....(Isaiah 6:8

too many innocent soldiers and civilians are bein killed tryin to stop terrorism and stoppin something like 9/11 from happenin again, in my opinion they can only do so much, terrorism wil continue no matter what as people like al queda and the taliban are too strong and wil always be there. they took out the main leader of al queda and hoped that would be it, but they got a new leader within hours and the consiquences were the brutal murders of those 2 american soldiers, these people have no mercy therefore terrorism wil stil go on for years to come.
we wil have another terrorist attack, the war wont stop that, its juat a waitin game til it happens again.

It is just lust for power and natural resources available in these countries. Whatever else excuses they make are just that---- excuses.
Why else was China not accepted as the real China for decades? Myopic thinking of the few rich countries who want everything going their way and do not want to accept reality if it goes against their thinking.
What are they doing in Palestine? Hamas, an elected govt. is not acceptable, but any Israeli govt. no matter how cruel and aggressive is acceptable and legitimate as long as it does their bidding.
