Wars are fought in the name of God, or a god, for that matter, that and p*ssy.
Oh yeah, I am 75% Irish. We just like to fight. It's in our blood.

There we go the poor Irish that is such an oversimplified view of the conflict there...Does it matter that the English treated them like dogs and called them dogs and came into their land and took their land .....land dear to the Irish heart ....and have English forces occupying the land......clearly there is much more socioeconomic influence in this conflict than just the fact that most Irish are Catholic and The Church of England is the protestant interest.

It has nothing to do with ego. It has nothing to do with playing God. It comes down to 2 factors:
1. Religion is emotional--and people who are genuinely religious are easily manipulated by this emotion.
2. Those who only pretend to be religious for the sake of power have no qualms about stiring the emotions of others for their own ends.
Emotion and Power--those are the causes of religious wars.
How much emotion do you put into your statement that religion is supposed to be to love each other no matter who you are? Would you get upset if someone didn't agree with you? Would you get upset if someone put a gun to your head and said that it is about Allah--convert or die! Would you fight that person? Kill that person? Would you kill them if you thought killing them would save them? (dying by the sword of Allah supposedly saves unbelievers). Would you torture them to save their souls? You say to love each other no matter of background...but what is the result of doing so? Is that salvation? Will that save me from the fires of hell? Should I be frightened if I don't do as you say?
See what I mean? Even your question is a form of manipulation and attempted control--power. Why did you feel the need to inform us of your truth with this borderline rhetorical?

It's not even Ireland. It's Northern Ireland. Over here the catholics and protestants killed each other for a long time in the name of religion, now.... they're killing within their own factions, so It's not even about religion anymore.

Because religion is an easy thing to convince people to rise up for, it is in peoples own ignorance and willingness to go blind into the wolves den, its not religions fault people die its peoples fault for killing for a "religious cause" almost an oxy -moron

It's not just Ireland, all down the centruies, there have been hundreds of wars all in the name of religion. It's stupid, disgraceful and basically I think they are just using it as an excuse to beat the crap out of another nationality.

Ego created nations, society, religions - barriers.
So called religious leaders are not different than politicians - want more power, prestige. Nothing to do with God.
So people born into these societies are so brain washed they will do anything they feel are expected to do.

It's a Mental satisfaction - to die in the name of Jesus or Allah. Otherwise where is the reason to die or kill ?? The easiest reason that would satisfy you to kill or die is to do it in the name of religion, which will be accepted by the society. But why do you care to be accepted by anyone after you die ? That is my question.. It's probebly to do with moral reason I guess

Because when people become religious without proper understanding of their faith they become high on religious zealousness and behave in complete contrast to the basic teachings of their religions. "Waylon li umatin kathurat fiha al tawa'ifo wa qalla fiha al deen"
