They are usually very small some times bigger and smell Awful (like bad breath) Is that plaque? From your teeth that gets stuck in the back of your throat? I can get one of these lumps to come up after brushing the back of my tongue. I don't see anything when I look and I've mentioned it during my check up with a doc who wasn't at all concerned. it would make since if it were plaque. I still hae my tonsels, is that their funtion to keep plaque out of my system? I've hear of people having plaque build up in their vessels. I'm not sure if that's the same plaque we find on our teeth?

Look up tonsil stones or tonsilloliths it may help. I have them too and was relieved when i saw there were other people and there was info on the web! They are not cancer don't worry. Although you don't have to smoke to get cancer.

They're call "tonsilloliths" or tonsil stones. They're basically dead cells from your tonsils that are feeding the bacteria in the back of your mouth. The bacteria is where the smell comes form. Most of the time they are swallowed, but like you say, sometimes you cough them up. The only way to totally get rid of them is to have your tonsils removed but I'd try something less extreme, like more mouthwash gargling with over the counter mouthwash or a saltwater mix.

I still have my tonsils too and I also get those nasty little lumps. I think it is some sort of a plaque, I dont know if it is the same kind on our teeth, I wouldn't think so because I brush my teeth regularly and floss and they are still there. If you figure it out contact me because those things are so gross.

i just think it is food stuck in your throat. i had it too before, there is nothing to worry about it, the only way it might really affect you is that it gives you a really really bad breath. it isn't cancer... well i do hope so for you at least. but no one on here is a real docotr, so if you are unsure, you better go and see your doctor. he'll make you feel better when he'll tell you there's nothing bad. it happens to everybody. it is annoying though.

I'm not sure what they are, but I get them too. I've mentioned this to my docotr several times and she said it is nothing to worry about. I suppose it's because we still have our tonsils. When one comes up it feels like it comes from my tonsils. So I'm not sure what it is, but I get them too!!

Tonsil junk. You tonsils may be slighty infected. it wont hurt at all if it is a small infection, but it probably wont dissappear without antibiotics
