What rule was given by Allah to choose Suceesor of Prophet as it is the most serious question?
If there was some rule, was that followed by Sehaba?
If election by prominent muslims was the rule Why ABUBAKER appointed Omer?
If Abubaker was right then what about election of Abubaker?
If appointment of Omer was right then why Omer did not follow that rule and constituted commette of strange composition and with strange conditions?

Prophet said (these aren't the exact words, I am quoting from my memory) "Pick the most knowledgeable and senior between all of you" and this is how the Khalifas were picked.

If you do a Google search, you will find many detailed answer regarding this issue.

Sunni muslims believe that Abubakr was prophet's Suceesor. Shia muslims believe that Ali was his. althought we have a phrase in Quran that says Ali is the second guidance after Mohammed, Sunni muslims don't believe in it.

They didnt appoint anyone. It's the other companions after there dead who choose those. Nobody appointed anyone.

These are Muhammad's companions:

Muhammad peace be upon him said that anyone who curse my companions would never go to Paradise.
