Go with Nissan...Hondas are nice if your short and skinny. but Nissans offer more room...and in my opinion more power. I have owned both and both are extremely reliable.

Get a new Ford Focus Hatchback.
I have over 73,000 miles on my '03, and it's still running strong.
They're dirt cheap now that it's end of season and the dealers want to move them. The seats are made for American butts, not like the foreign ones.
The thing I like most is the handling. It has one of the best steering systems in the business; no matter what the price. Mine, however, has the oversized tires. This helps handling, but hurts gas mileage.
At least give it a try before buying something else.

anything Japanese, they make good cars for the right price and even sometimes under priced! the honda engine's are extremely reliable and not too expensive to fix up if you have a problem and also for like a truck or SUV still japanese becuase unlike Ford or Dodge they don't make huge unwanted v8's they make small to medium sized v6's and are reliable also! If you want comfort then maybe cars from germany such as BMW, Benz! but those are a biatch to keep it running because I currently own a BMW 7 series and it costs me too much to fix up if anything happens and it does, but its my pride and joy and I would do anything to keep it running! anyways look at Honda, Toyota, and Nissan!
