I'm building a base and want to pour a concrete counter top for sink. What is the process to do this?

if you have your base built and the form for the counter top made, just place the sink you are going to use in the area you want it and build a stand or platform under it to hold it in place then place pvc pipe in all the openings, like the drain, spigot, and valve holes, make sure the pvc pipe you use is a little larger than the permanant pipes you are going to install, and about 2 inches longer/deeper than the concrete counter top's thickness, then pour your concrete around you sink.when dry and finished take off your forms and run your water lines and drain thru the holes left by the plastic pipe.

I've never made one but I'll have a shot at it based on other things I've made in a mould.

Take a sheet of marine or form plywood the size of the top you want to make, cut some laminate to same size and put on ply ( face up, it will give you a smooth surface on top when you break the mold ) make a frame around the edges to the depth you want of concrete, place the thing on a level surface ( get you level and make sure ), measure your sink and cut some ply to same size of sink to be fitted. if your sink has a flange cut a piece of laminate or something similar to the size of the sink flange and place this in your frame and put the ply you cut to the same size as the bowl on top of this ( you will have to get it right otherwise you in deep poo ).depending on the type of concrete you intend to pour and how big the top is you may have to add some steel reinforcement but should be o.k. if just a standard size and the conrete is thick enough. pour your concrete evenly without covering the material in the middle, ummm, you may have to wipe this with a soapy water mix to stop it sticking to the concrete .... leave it set for a couple of days or until you think the whole thing has dried enough then break the edges off the base very carefully ( best thing is to have screwed it together then you can unscrew and tap the wood away. That's it ..... and if it doesn't work out for you ........ you can ask someone else how to do it. :p
