I have used it many times for cakes and cupcakes.

5 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoons vanilla

Heat the milk and flour till thick, stirring constantly. Let cool until completely cool; very important. Beat the sugar, Crisco, margarine and vanilla till fluffy. Add the cooled flour mixture and beat again till light and fluffy. Now ready for use. Do not use a diet margarine or it will not set up.
