Islam is not a very peaceful religion. It is very violent. The qua'ran (I hope I spelled that right) calls for Muslims to either convert or kill non-believers. Also it is very oppressive to women.

What if out of 1000 Muslims, 998 are good people and only 2 are bad, do you still say all Muslims are bad. Actually there are more good Muslims in this earth than the bad one. There are millions of Muslims in China. Are they bad and keep bombing other people?
I read in the mass media including in the internet that at least two of the hijackers of the September 11 were alleged to be an Islamic Fundamentalist (people who are very fanatic with their religion). But in the mass media after several months of investigation it is shown that at least the two so-called Islamic Fundamentalists were actually persons who like to go to discotheque, night club, drink alcohol and even ate pork.
Going to discotheque, night club, drinking alcohol and eating pork are forbidden in Islam. How come 2 persons who do not adhere to the Islamic teaching are called Islamic Fundamentalists and therefore are considered representing the image of a Muslims community?
There are many misunderstanding about Muslim and their religion. Islam never teaches its follower to kill innocent people. It is even decreed as a major sin to kill innocent people. So how can Muslims be labelled as "Bad People" if in fact the majority of Muslims are good people?

I think only a few Muslims are a scourge for mankind. We must also keep in mind the injustice being inflicted on Muslims in many parts of the world. A funny thing is that there a lot of Muslim terrorists who claim to be fighting on behalf of all Muslims and in the course of their terrorist acts kill a lot of Muslims. This is ample proof that Islamic terrorists don't really care about Islam or fellow Muslims.

Once again, I am going to bang my head to the wall and try to answer you.
The word terrorist differs from one place to another. When freedom fighters in India were fighting against British, they were called terrorist also.
We can't lable everyone terrorist and think everything will become OK. if you really want to know, ask the people who are around them.
Like in Iraq for example, the terrorists are also called "freedom fighters"
Erine, you really need to do a research my friend, I am not saying you are wrong because all you know is what you have found out from anti-Islam propaganda.
You have seen the one side now you can atleast spend an hour or 2 to findout the other side as well.

I've chatted with many Muslims over the internet...for the most part, they are all very upset with what these terrorists have done. Please don't fall into the trap of viewing most Muslims as terrorists or supporting of terrorist acts. It's a lie that doesn't need to be perpetuated any further. There are simply bad people in any group...let us not, as a nation as humans, look at the acts of the few and apply it to the many.

To b very honest, yes some muslims do support terrorism(not most) .Out here, in India itself, some ppl behind the Mumbai-blasts were Indian Muslims. But v can't 4get all those Muslims who r in the Armed Forces safeguarding our country; all those who are assets 2 the nation.Just bcoz 1 fruit is rotten, u can't stereotype the entire basket.
What happened in London is tragic & we mourn for the victims.

Response to the White Paper on Jemaah Islamiyah
Media Release
Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura
Overview
1. We condemn terrorism and will not allow Islam to be misused by any individuals or groups for their violent and destructive agendas.
2. The Muslim community has always and will continue to stand united with other fellow Singaporeans to protect the nation against terrorism. The Muslim community, like other Singaporeans, is committed to efforts of nation building, social cohesion and religious harmony.
3. Muis will continue to lead and guide the Muslim community in Singapore to remain vigilant against attempts to misuse or distort Islam by individuals or groups. Together, we will ensure that the true and peaceful teachings of Islam will prevail over extremism and radicalism.
4. Muis supports the efforts of the Government to take necessary preventive and defensive measures to protect Singaporeans from the threats of terrorism and extremism. Muis and the Muslim community will continue to actively complement the Government's measures through other community-based initiatives.
5. Muis also appreciates the White Paper's distinction between legitimate practices and peaceful activities of the Muslim community in Singapore, on the one hand, and radical teachers and foreign operatives, on the other. Muis echoes the assertion that the Muslim community should not be unduly worried in carrying out their legitimate activities and religious practices. By continuing to learn, understand, practice the true teachings of Islam, and adhere to its universal values of peace, tolerance and mutual respect, the community will be able to confront, and reject any extreme and radical tendencies.

Hi,
A muslim is one who follows quran. Quran says not to kill anyone. Quran says there is no compulsion in religion. It says treat everyone with love. It says treat muslims as well as non-muslims equally. Now if any person follows these, then he is a muslim else he is isnt. no person can be a muslim just becoz his parents are. he can only be a muslim if he follows what quran says. so every muslim is good. i mean every person who follows the teachings(muslim) is good. Quran says that if any person kills any person( muslim or non - muslim), it is as if he has killed the whole man-kind. So these people whom u call muslims are not muslims coz they dont follow Quran. Let me put it this way: if a person eats only vegetables, he is a vegeterain. if he ever eats non-veg, he ceazes to be a vegetarian. i know this example is stupid. what i mean to say is, if anyone goes against the teachings of quran, he isnt a muslim.
Even when war becomes compulsory, muslims are asked to fight only with the enemy soldiers but not civilians. so it is against muslim teachings to kill ordinary people. even in war, if any enemy asks to forgive, he should be forgiven. not only that but he should be escorted to place of safety. you can find this in the 9th chapter of quran. Quran teaches only peace.
P.S: The best way to reduce violence in the world is to encourage people to read Quran with its meaning but not just the arabic text. Once people learn the meaning, they will know the truth.

Hey Mesum, there's a BIG difference between Indian freedom fighters and Islamic terrorists. It's true that some freedom fighters used violence but they killed British officials only who were responsible for passing unfair bills in the Indian parliament. Have you heard of any Indian freedom fighter who blew himself up in England? Have you heard of any Indian freedom fighter who deliberately killed an innocent Englishman?
