I am considering buying a satnav system for my car. (probably TomTom or Navman)
Does anybody know where i can try before I buy?

Hertz rents cars with this stuff in it. You can try there. Also make sure that there is nit a monthly fee to use that thing. I just have a Magellan Color GPS. It works everywhere, not just in the car.

Stay away from Navman, Tom-Tom or the newer Garmin units are the better ones.

I've got a Tomtom system (PDA and bluetooth GPS) which I love, my other half has Miomap which he likes. These both seem to be good systems to me. Just use them sensibly and carry a map just in case!

I don't know about trials, but I've just bought a tom tom one, and it's great. I recommend it fully (cost me £215 on halfords online)

get a mag about hand held computers or look at website " total pda" and read their reviews.
