A patient who focuses on Alternate treatment, and disregard largely on conventional treatment and dialysis, falls ill every few months. Is it common for kidney patients to fall ill easily, or can it be minimised? Anyone knows any patient that leads quality life after diagnosed with kidney failure?

Yes they can. It is important that they follow their recommended diet closely. For example, it is a strong recommendation that renal patients limit their potassium intake because without sufficient renal function, too much potassium can stop their heart. While it is true that dialysis removes whatever potassium they've consumed since their last treatment, it is a horrible shock to the body to remove it so quickly. The same is true with their water consumption.

Besides that, kidney failure patients in general have compromised immune systems. They do get sicker more frequently than the average population. It should also be noted that most renal disease patients have more than just one disease. For example, you frequently see diabetes, heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure) in kidney failure patients, and these other conditions along with kidney failure can result in other problems.

For a while, eventually dialysis will become necesssary. This can help preserve some quality of life, but a great deal of time will be spent at a dialysis center. To help with this many dialysis centers are starting to offer nocturnal treatments allowing the patient to sleep reasonably normal hours while the dialysis is being done and have a somewhat normal day. The only sure way to have a good quality of life is kidney transplant. Transplant recipients have virtually no restrictionson life style other than taking the medications and getting regular medical check ups, blood tests and other procedures to monitor the health of the transplanted organ. I, myself am a double lung recipient but know many kidney recipients quite well. Many work at regular full time jobs, have had children and generally live an active lifestyle.
