She fled the scene. I was rear ended at a red light she had no intention of stopping at. My dogs flew from the back seat to the dashboard, I followed her called 911 and she was arrested. It turns out it was her 3rd arrest for drunk driving, she was conviicted of drunk driving and felonious assault. I was in bed for two months, had to hire someone to take care of the house, because I was in so much pain. I'm trying to get damages from her insurance for $10,000. (roughly what my bills were) They want to settle at $4400.00 and I'm being told I should settle. WTF? I'm not asking for the moon, I think given the circumstances I'm being very reasonable - everyone who saw me during that time frame were licking their chops over how much I was going to get!!! (Like looking for $500,000 or 1,000,000) What do you think is reasonable and should I get another lawyer?

Does this drunk actually have the resources to pay you? 3rd conviction and still has insurance?Wouldn't hurt to get another consultation but in the long run will it matter if this person doesn't have s**t?

YES! Get another lawyer. and tell the punk posing as your lawyer to go get.......a new job. That lady chose 2 drink and drive. U didnt choose 4 her to run into U. I don't care if she has anything or not, get every dime outta the hag. This time she injured u and your dogs, and next time it could be a van full of children. Also call MADD or go to thier web site. They should have great advice 4 u and maybe even some attorney suggestions 4 lawyers in your area. Good luck 2 U

Who's telling you to settle? If you can prove you should get at least $10,000 then I would see a lawyer that specializes in busting drunk drivers. Good luck.

I in simple terms had to assert im sorry on behalf of the fellow who wrote that first answer. i imagine the finest element you may want to do is communicate along with your coverage employer and the different agencies thinking your situation. Sorry thats not helpful, even if the answer on your questions are diverse for all of us. If the agencies arent assisting, be extra forceful and threaten to sue in case you dont get the solutions you want.

I think you should push and push on this, outrageous that they should try and negotiate on your proven bills, go for it. They ought to pay big bucks just for what happened to the dogs!
