I have serious doubts as to Christians being able to think for themselves. In two threads, I asked them to use the Bible that they should all have read before converting for a simple passage in one of the most popular books, and the first person to get it through about 45 posts was an atheist.

It seems hypocritical for them to start trying to convert people to their religion when they dont even know much about it. I onyl ask for people to do what is expected of them. I as a humanist am expected to promote humanity, and I see religion as a barrier in my way.

And for your information the passage was
"And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth . . . And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:3-9)
I had one answerer try to tell me that he is an animal with a goat head with 666 written on his forhead, and used the Book of Revalation as his source. Do you understand why I question Christianity now?

The missing link will disprove your religion? No, the bible disproves your religion, and I doubt 95% of Christians have actually read it because you have to be a moron to believe it.

Every answer you could ever look for is in the bible. And as I said before Revelation 12 is not an actual physical description of Satan. The seven heads and ten horns have nothing to do with his appearance. He has always been known as a serpent however.

I don't think that christians are as hypocritical as much as they are ignorant. Most don't read the Bible for themselves but will take the word of their pastor, priest or even friend. Also a large portion of them rely on church traditions for thei beliefs rather than turning to the scriptures.
I have studied through the scriptures a few times but I don't remember everything. But when I finally understand what a particular passage says, I do try to apply that to my life. I do believe that all ten commandments should be obeyed as they are written, and that the old testament is just as important as the new testament.
Yes there are those people who do practice what they condemn, and those who will deliberately sin and then try to pray for forgiveness later. But, the Bible teaches that we should stop sinning.

I agree with you. I was baptized and went to Catholic school most of my life, including college. I had at least six Bibles in my formative years and was never required to read it even once. I never even read it in Religion class. I never read the whole Bible until after I left Christianity and I don't know very many Christians who have read it or could identify information that comes from the many versions of the Bible unless it was a very popular verse (e.g. Psalms 23). I take some consolation in the fact that I never tried to convert anyone or push my religion on people when I was a Christian. It's sad to me that people are willing to judge, hate and condemn others based on something most have never truly studied or even read completely.

If you went into an 8th grade math class and got the wrong answer from many of the students, would you then begin to question math?
I totally understand what you are saying and agree that there are lot's of "faithful" out there in every religion who don't have a clue what they are talking about.
But, I can't follow you to throwing out an entire religion or philosophy simply because some of it's students don't fully grasp all it's aspects.

Ok, fyi, the devil takes many forms and can take on the form of an angel of light in order to try and deceive man. As for you questioning Christianity, no you are not. You are questioning the Christians, not the religion they serve. Even Christians are human and make mistakes, myself included. If you are so bent on debunking my faith, go out and find me the missing link.

EVERY ONE is a hypocrite... including you....
and the angel of light is a valid description even though you hypocritically disregarded it....
2Cr 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
