For whatever reason, the spell check seems to work only about 50% of the time on my computer. Bad luck? I don't know...
A few observations:
1) A spell checker only catches words which don't exist (or which it doesn't believe exist) - and most of the spelling problems are along the lines of the 'your horny' example given above.
2) There are words it doesn't have.
3) It takes time, and a lot of people want to post their answers quickly. Most of the mistakes are simple typos.
4) A lot of people here are either young or second-language English speakers. You can't really blame them - they're learning.
5) For whatever reason, you can spell check your answers and your question 'title', but you can't spell check comments or 'additional information'. I have no idea why.
I've seen messages with spelling and syntax that are so convoluted that I truly can't understand them. But they're one in a thousand. By and large, I just think 'live and let live'. After all, as somebody else said, we're not here to learn how to spell, right?

The spell check feature isn't available to everyone. When I got a new computer, it disappeared (I'm not sure exactly why). So that's one possible reason.
Many people aren't misspelling so much as using abbreviations. "u" for "you" and "bcoz" for "because" aren't misspelled...although a lot of people find them objectionable! (Okay...myself included.)
Moreover, a spell checker won't work for all typos. You've probably seen the poem:
Owed to a Spell Checker
I have a spelling checquer
It came with my pea sea
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss steaks aye can knot sea
Eye ran this poem threw it
Your sure real glad two no
Its vary polished in it's weigh
My checker tolled me sew

Some don't care about spelling others do. This is a free society on here and i don't believe the spelling police are going to bust down anyone's door for not spelling a word correctly

I would think the challenge of trying to figure what the question was through bad spelling or grammar would make you feel smarter! Like a spy cracking a code! Who cares, there is nothing more rude and obnoxious than the spelling police!

1. Many people don't find spelling so important these days.
2. Spell check isn't perfect, either.

because this isnt a spelling exam, its the internet.. nobody gives a flip if you misspell a word..
and btw - you answered a question under "Why do I feel like I'm going to die if I don't get penetrated soon?"... (yeah, i can look at your other questions and answers) and you answered the question with "your horny".. so, since we're talking spelling and grammar, the proper answer would have been "You're horny"..

Well in America they spell it color in England it's spelt colour... maybe you just don't realise that words are spelt differently in different parts of the world.
So why don't you think before opening you big assed mouth?

I think it is because they can not read the words spell check. Maybe it is because they are doing to much crack and they are burnt up from the floor up. You know the commercial this is your brain.... this is your brain on drugs. well this is the result of your brain on drugs.

They do it because they have been told all their short lives to have self-esteem, whether they have earned it or not. At the same time, they have also been taught that they needn't put themselves out; close is good enough.
Boy, I can't wait till these guys represent the bulk of the workforce, can you?
