There is a fairly new drug that can be prescribed to help you. I have been in your shoes and this was the only thing that helped me. The medicine is Suboxone. Only doctors who have went and gotten certified to prescribe this medicine can do so. Each doctor can only have 30 patients at a time and there may be a waiting list. I was lucky and found a doctor nearby that could take me right in. Suboxone is a pill that disolves under your tongue and starts to work very fast. It takes away all cravings that you have for pain killers, even methadone. I personally have had no side effects from this treatment. Here is a link with all the information and it also has a listing of all the doctors that prescribe suboxone. You click on the area you live and it will list all the doctors (with phone numbers) that are nearby. Call each one to see if they can take you. This is a miracle drug in my own opinion! http://www.suboxone.com/patients/suboxone/treatment.aspx
There are also links to suboxone forums that are a really big help. I used them as a support system.
Hope this helps and if you have any questions you would like to ask me, you are more than welcome to write me at swlaughter1971@verizon.net. I will be glad to give you my support. Good luck! swlaughter1971

I've been taking methadone for 2+ years for psoriatic arthritis, and spondylitis, with no perceived side effects nor problems. But, as we all should know by now, the results of any medication is different from individual to individual.
The best way I know of to discontinue any pain med, is to do a gradual taper ( like decreasing the dosage on a gradual basis), and using hot tub soaks to ease the pain and discomfort. Also, trying modified stretching exercises while soaking.can bring a bit of relief when the pain becomes annoying, do this at the FIRST indication of discomfort, DON'T wait for the pain to become unbearable.
This may take some time, and adjusting the med is by trial and error, but so far, I've found this to be a working solution for me. It seems a shame that the usual attitude towards pain is so far off the mark, that some of the meds and their dosages only make you dependent upon the med, but not relieved of the symptoms of pain.
Good luck!!!

Well, you'd better do something against the cause of your back pain - there is a solution:
Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of your body is simply amazing - own experience! :-)
The treatment is available in California and Europe only, but hopefully there will be more practitioners in the US soon. It's really worth travelling far.

I worked at a methadone clinic and most of the patients who complained of joint pain were those who had suddenly stopped taking their medication. Please inform your physician/nurse about your symptoms. Maybe your dosage needs to be re-adjusted.

Tell your doctor that you want to stop taking the drug. Also ask him for a referral to a pain management doctor. A pain management specialist helped my father-in-law with his nerve pain.

im not telling you this to scare you this, but my little brothers best friend was on that stuff for an injury. it lead to addiction, and he killed himself by taking the whole bottle.
please go talk to your doctor. this stuff is dangerous. if you need more help concerning addiction, seek out a local church pastor, church help center, or self help group, they would love to help make you better.
