God created much more than just the other planets. he created everything, in my belief system. Now, I am a scientist, so here's how I see it, and this is actually supported in some part by the publishing's of the Catholic Church. God created so many wondrous things, that it will take mankind nearly an eternity to discover them all. However, in this unending search for new knowledge and learning, we move ever closer to fully understanding God's design in creation, be it through the evolution of life on earth, or in the expansion of the universe subsequent to the Big Bang. I see science as the continual search for knowledge, and my faith allows me to connect this to God's work in creation.

Some fundamentalists may disagree, but that is the beautiful thing about free will, isn't it? If you want to know why God did things, I am afraid the only way to start coming to terms with that is through prayer. That's the only way I have come to accept what I do not know or understand, especially my mother's recent death. I shudder to think how I would feel, how I would function, without my faith in light of that.

In God's infinite wisdom, he chose earth because it was at a comfortable distance from the sun. Isn't it funny how all the ingredients for life are perfect right here on earth for life to begin and propagate? Isn't it convenient that God just happened to stick his magic fingers in the dust and up jumped Adam, when we could've evolved to this state as a natural and scientific process of life? All the properties of life were perfect on earth as it is. Funny how God happened to create us when he could have just let evolution take its course. One may argue that God created everything, hence we evolved. Well, at least that person would be conceding to evolution, but really that person is only justifying God's existence anyway they can. It is simply a lack of understanding. Evolution is being more understood, so now Christians must devise an excuse to further propagate the misnomer of a creator. It'll be interesting to see what excuses people of faith make when the origins of the universe are more closely understood. We are on earth, because we evolved from this planet. We evolved from this planet because all the conditions for life were perfect, and a perfect reaction to the elements of nature. Sorry, I'm no theist.

You truly are a moron, aren't you? The Bible never says earth is the only planet inhabited. It never says this is it for the universe. Millions of light years away, I'm sure there is another planet just like earth. And I bet somebody on that planet believes in a God. He chose Our planet because he can.

And I've always wondered about you name. Some people call cocaine nose Candy...so do you shove atheist up your nose? Does your Dad know you are an Atheist? Or, did you never meet him? Are you a product of a Mother of the Candy?

What makes you think that there is life only on this planet? He also created angels which are not on this planet. As God, he can create beings wherever he chooses.

Pardon me, but you do not know what life exists outside of this galaxy since we are only a lifeform based on the element carbon. You don't even know if there are other lifeforms based on other elements regardless if we will never see them because of the distances involved or just because they have no means of traveling here or us traveling there. Space is infinite and if you think that we're the only lifeforms in the whole universe, you must be quite arrogant. Do you even remember that about 3 years ago a space probe to Mars brought back proof of ancient bacteria from the surface of the planet? Even more mysterious is the unknown source of such?

i have often wondered this point too, athiest_ candy. As the previous answerer said "are these other planets habitable? " they appear not to be, but if your God was so powerful he would easily be able to create life for those planets.

The more we find scientifically prove things, the closer it is to being linked to God. Do you think the planets made themselves? If you place wood, nail, and even to make things easiest as possible, a hammer and a blueprint- Do you think a house -over a billion years of time-could begin to become intellegent or figure out it's purpose, then begin to build itself?? Or maybe the blueprint will figure it out if we give him billions of years? I don't think so. There is a purpose, and a plan- but first there is a PLANNER. His word does not speak of aliens or other lives..... That does not mean they do not exsist.

He created may different planets for many different reasons, one of which was to give people the choice to believe in him. To give just a little doubt that it was him who created earth. Its your choice to believe or not he wont make any one believe yet. Not until his second return then for those who have been wicked will be burnt like stubble in a grain field, but its then to late to change your ways.

Judging from the Earth, God likes diversity. It looks like the cosmos is more of the same. And I wouldn't be surprised if the cosmos is teeming with incarnate and discarnate intelligences. Perhaps in a few million years, we'll be spreading throughout the cosmos, seeing how beautiful it all is. Don't you like a good sunset? Imagine a good supernova!

I currently do not subscribe to one specific religion but believe all have their merit and choose to not limit my concept of god to only what religions have come before.
I believe our god(s) created all life on all planets, it was some humans that tried to elevate themselves above all other life.
I believe different people can have different perceptions of god and that they are not wrong because we are created out of the substance our god(s) are made of, much in the way our own imagination can create images and ideas within our mind at the same time our mind can perceive itself. I believe our god does not need our belief of him/her/it/them because as long as we believe in ourselves we believe in our god as well. I also believe our purpose in existence is to learn the rules of reality around us and try to find out everything we can so we can move forward.

I think god created so many other planets so there can be many different types of life capable of doing many different things, thinking many different ways, and perceiving many different ways. I think our god(s) chose the planet Earth to create life because it/he/she/they optimally want every planet to have multiple types of life.
