Your doctor can perform an "ear-igation" on you. <<< get it?! lol

Bad joke, I know.

To irrigate, the doctor uses something akin to a water pik that flushes out your middle ear. It should remove the compacted wax.

If you want to try a home remedy, pour a 1/2 capful of hydrogen peroxide into the affected ear. Make sure you have your head tilted enough to the side so the solution doesn't drip out. Just to warn you, this is a very odd feeling thing to do. When the HP encounters wax or any other impurities, it starts to bubble. You can hear the crackling of it, and it tickles in a disturbing sort of way. But keep your head tilted for about 1 minute. Press a kleenex tightly against your outer ear and tilt your head the opposite way to let the HP drain out. This should loosen and dissolve the wax enough for it to exit your ear safely. You may have to do it twice to get it all out.

Go to the Doctor. S/he will try to vacuum most of it out. If they use water, they're not a ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Otolaryngology specialist. You want a specialist. Then what they cannot get out, they will prescribe you something. This will be a liquid-ish substance that you will drop into your ear three times a day for about 7 - 10 days. This will soften the ear wax build up and you can go back to your Doctor. Then the Doctor can vacuum the rest out.
