Jesus was the son of God. The Jews didn't believe this, and in their religion to claim something of the sort is blasphemy. This was quite possibly the most serious sin a person could commit. That was what made it relatively easy to arrest him and force the Roman Governor to crucify him. Pilate was afraid of a rebellion by the Jews, history records him as already having put a couple down and being told by Rome to shape up, so he had to go along with what they wanted. For the rest of the time that the Jews remained in Israel, before the Romans scattered them, and sacked Jerusalem, they hunted and persecuted the Christians as blaspheming heretics. They never accepted him as savior, and then the hatred was cemented by the dark times of the Christian church, such as the Inquisition and to some extent the Crusades.

Jews respect him as one of the great prophets. The problem throughout history has been Christians hating Jews, not vice versa.

Christians love Batman, by the way.

Now a days I read most of the question and answers are related to the religion and it is not about religion the fight between religion. Why? God is one and for all.But the lay man used to fight making the religion a major issue. How dare they do.They are those I am sure didt believe either Christianity nor muslim, nor any. They are just mean and ugly creation of God.So read this and at least try to believe the supreme power--GOD--who ever may be.

The jewish people acknowledge Jesus as a powerful prophet, and a man. He's not THE son of God, as we are ALL children of God. Jesus was acutually a Gnostic, part of the Essenes who were much persecuted.

Because Jesus is not a politician. Don't you ever notice come election time, politicians always rake highest votes in their bailiwick/hometown? If a prophet can never be accepted in his hometown how much more being the Son of God?
