First of all, it is nearly impossible to do "something" that will last 2 hours with children that young. You need to prepare *several* things. Some ideas:

Start with an introduction of some kind where the kids all tell you their names. Try to remember as many as possible. Keep working on the rest of them during the course of the 2 hours.

Read a book. Be prepared to make it interesting to little kids by using voices and sound effects. Pick something appropriate for the age group that has a plot--it will keep theri interest better than one of the simpler Dr. Seuss books, for instance. So either of the 2 Dr. Seuss "Cat in the Hat" books are a pretty good choice.

Play a game...or two (but do something else in between). Some good choices are "Simon Says" "Red Light, Green Light" or "Ring Around the Rosy". If you have an outdoor play area, tag is good, too. And if you have places for little kids to hide, you can do hide and seek.

Sing a song or two. Again, look for little kids' songs...

Do some sort of artwork. It can be as simple as coloring with crayons, or bring along some magazines for the kids to cut apart and use to make a mural. Finger painting can also be fun. But check with the teachers if they have any rules about materials that are or aren't permitted.

Cooking can be fun. With a group of really young kids like this, you need to find a simple recipe--something you can mix and eat. Or make a fruit salad by cutting soft fruits with a spoon (or you bring along already-cut fruits, and let them mix). Again, talk to the teachers about what is or isn't permitted, but some good choices are apple (put a bit of lemon juice on them to prevent browning), pear (ditto), oranges, bananas, and raisins. Add whatever else is easily available where you are.

Make up a story together. You start by saying "I met a bear in the woods" then point to one of the kids and she/he has to add a sentence... Or, just wait for someone else to volunteer... Or go around in a circle.

Try to alternate calm, sitting activities with more active ones. And clean up after every activity (get the kids involved in helping) before going on to the next one. Plan *more* than you think you need; move on to something else when you see the *first* signs of boredom. You can always go back and repeat later if you want...

I'm not a nursery school teacher, but I do teach ESL and have kids (no longer that little).

Do you know the song/chant "We're going on a bear hunt?" That would be great for that age group.

"We're going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one. It's a beautiful day. We're not scared. Uh-oh! Grass! Long wavy grass! We can't go over it, we can't go under it, we can't go around it, we have to go THROUGH it! Swishy swashy swishy swashy swishy swashy!"

Then they go through a snowstorm, a lake, mud, etc... find the bear and run all the way home.

Throw in a bear craft and some growling and you're good to go.

Good luck!
