Aloha!! Never been to Maui, but have visited Oahu five times. The last time was last May.
One of the restaurants that I love is the Oceanarium Restaurant for buffet breakfast. It is located in the Pacific Beach Hotel. There are also two other restaurants in the hotel.
The Oceanarium is breakfast, then there is one Japanese restaurant, and one seafood restaurant.
There is also Duke's Restaurant it has good breakfast also.
For entertainment, if any in the group are Elvis lovers, there is a great show at the Waikiki Beachcomber "Blue Hawaii, The Show". The impressionist is really good!!
Also, there is an Navatek 1 Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise that has wonderful food on it.

The only traffic slow downs I encountered in Maui was from the Airport to Ka'anapoli during rush hour only after a few planes landed when everyone gets into their rental cars and try to head up the two lane road all at once. Seriously consider stopping at the Sytabucks and the walmart to pick up provisions if you arrive around rush hour. Then grab a bite to eat, whatever, just stay off of that stretch during work days between 4-6

Hello,
I was just there in October (Maui) for my honeymoon and traffic was NEVER a problem there. The only time it was slow was the drive to HANA around the south side of the island due to very narrow roads. I don't know if it was the time of year or what. Of course, around the shopping districts, traffic was slow (such as Kihei). The airport was very easy to get around in. Just make sure and remember to go through the agriculture inspection before going into the terminal. We were almost to the ticket counter when we were pulled out of line and sent to have our bags checked for fruits, flowers, etc. Hope this helps...
PS...if you want a place to eat in Maui, I recommend MAMA's fish house on the north shore. Pricey but very good!

When you make arrangements with the shuttle bus - tell them the time of your flight/airlines and they will probably tell you when they will pick you up. If your using Speedi Shuttle or Roberts they will probably be stopping at other hotels on the way in order to make a full load for their shuttle van. Hope that this helps - have a wonderful time on Maui - Maui no ka oi! Check out the link below for Speedi Shuttle - I don't work for them but I see their vans all over the island and their name came first to mind.

Traffic between Wailea and the airport is never very bad, even on weekends. (If you were staying in Kaanapali, it would be a different story.) That 30-35 mins. estimate is correct, so I'd ask to be picked up 2 to 2 1/2 hours before your flight leaves.
