Doesn't matter. It's still a crime, no matter where it occurred.

Anyone, regardless of whether or not they are military should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Actually, in the case of rape, anyone found guilty beyond ANY doubt should be castrated; PERIOD! I don't mean chemical castration; that's for the human right people...I mean, the way we used to do bull calves. Hold them down and "crush" the cords with this stainless steel medieval looking plier like devise. Make them feel a small portion of the pain they had inflicted on their victim. The laws that govern our great nation are a JOKE. They are merely put in place to stop good folks from making stupid mistakes. Think of it this way: A padlock only keeps an honest person honest. I don't care if this WAS the enemy; this is still a human being. Complete with feeling and everything. How would you feel if it were YOUR child that got raped??

They did not do this to an enemy on enemy soil. We are not at war with Iraqis. That being said, this is a military crime and will be handled differently than if it happened in the US. If the allegations are proven true, they should be punished to the maximum allowment of military law. From my understanding, there are plans to exhume the victims body to obtain DNA evidence.

They must be persecute according to the law of Iraqi government! They should pay the crime they committed in fairness to the innocent girl and her family to give justice for the case! Here in the Philippines, 5 us navy man also raped a Filipina and the case is like a roller coaster ,until now justice is still unclear! They did that to Iraqi teenager not as a soldier but they did that as devils themselves! I believe USA will not tolerate such wrongdoings!

If they are being tried by the military, they will be treated even worse that it was not a us citizen. There is reputation that they want up held so doing something like that, they will pay. I have seen case that they turned the person over to the police of that country that usually is the best punishment.. I hope they get want they deserve though. I was a Marine for 11 years and that just p i ss es me OFF

They need to be made an example of. I hope they are all convicted to the fullest extent of military law. I think the punishment should be a minimum of 15 years in prison and castration. I don't believe all five killed her. We need to find the truth in this crime and make the charges according to each ones participation. Although the conditions of war may have played a role in the actions of some in this case, officers in charge of monitoring personnel are also responsible.
It takes a special kind of person to deal with the pressures and conditions of war. I'm sure some of the guilty men don't have the mental fortitude to deal with such conditions and should have been relieved of duty before it got this far.

Conviction takes more than a witness that may not be a reliable witness; Therefore, DNA is a good way to prove, but in this case I wouldn't assume the Iraqi Governemnt would want to spend money exhuming a girls body which is taboo in their country. So the best weay to tackle this is to Dishonorable Discharge the soldiers after spending time in Levinworth.

No punishment at all...Cruel? Yes! Uncalled for? Yes!.Just remember if we had our enemies on our soil, they would be doing the same here! Not to mention they treat our woman soldiers the same when they are captured, except we don't hear about it much since the are also killed right after that.

What they did was worse than a drunken frat boy raping his date.. as bad as that is. Because it's "bigger" than just them.

The entire world is watching us and our actions in Iraq. When 5 soldiers gang-rape a teenage girl for kicks.... they have dishonored not only themselves.. but their country. And their actions are a slap in the face to every honorable soldier risking their life in the middle east right now.

How many of our servicemen will die in retaliation for this crime? How much damage will this story do in the long run.. not only to the way we are perceived internationally... but, more importantly, when insurgents use it as a recruiting tactic "It could have been your daughter, your sister, your wife". People.. all people.. respond emotionally to a crime as vicious as this.

In today's very delicate political climate.. can we really afford to have members of our forces viewed as sick practically pedophile rapists who use their authority to humiliate and physically defile defenseless young women?

I have no doubt that they will be tried in military court... and likely made an example of.

What they have done is detestable and a crime against not just an "enemy".. but to a young girl. A human being.

It was a crime against humanity. They should be punished accordingly.

Disgusting previous perception. those squaddies are actual animals, and they carry shame on each and each and every of the strong and humane squaddies contained in the U. S. military. they're murders, rapists, AND traitors to the rustic, because they have damaged their us of a's photo. regrettably, their habit isn't so brilliant. "In each and every barrel, there are some rotten apples." likely such issues as this have befell in a lot of wars, yet were no longer suggested. As for leaving them to Iraqi justice -- that must be like keeping that the rustic purely isn't to blame for those squaddies, so the rustic would not ought to administration them. the rustic can not spoil out duty so surely, and could step up and say, "we are to blame, because we did not show our squaddies properly adequate, or we did not run adequate psych exams, etc. for this reason, we are able to attempt those squaddies and mete out a suitable punishment." and understand that they nevertheless have the right to an ordeal in the previous punishment. possibility free till shown to blame, regardless of if the information seems overwhelming.

Rape is a brutal and inhumane, those soldiers should be tried and punish according to the law of the country where they committed a crime. I hope the law there is as brutal and as inhumane. A teenager is a person regardless of what nationality, ethnicity, race she was from.
