OK so mabe that question was a little extreme but u know i was a christian and when i told my dad i was changing my religion he flipped and maybe its just i am the one surrounded by those types of ppl and i know that there is one in every religion. Also u guys dont have to b so harsh, u need 2 first see it from my point of view. and 4 the ppl that think im close minded think again. i dont deny anything that i dont like or dont believe i take into consideration of what other ppl think. all i wanted 2 do was ask a question, mabe i should of put "some" in there. oh well whats done is done and i cant change that so i guess that i'll accept the concequences gracefully and take ur critisizm.

Do you not get, that the reason they try to tell you, is really because they care?? They think (know/are convinced) you are gonna suffer a horrible fate for all eternity and it hurts their hearts..

You need to lighten up on Christians. Contrary to popular belief being Christian does NOT, I repeat NOT, make us perfect. We are far from Perfect. We are animal human and do animal human things. Wrong and right.. Just like every other animal human.. Only Jesus was perfect.. There are no, and never will be any perfect humans..

We are taught to love everyone, We really do try, It is really hard to love some folks....... {:-).... Why is it so hard for you to just accept the love and wish them equally well, but no thanks?

It is not wrong to be polite to your fellowman or woman.. You should at least extend them the common courtesy you extend to any other living being. It is OK to disagree...

God bless & Hugs from Texas. {:-)

I personally was in dire need of a thorough wash to that brain of mine I kept hearing inuendos that others didn't hear that just gave me a kind of snickering sneer that I wasn't even aware of Not only that I think I was so open minded that my brain just fell right out into the dirt when I wasn't paying attention . I'm still getting some of that stuff out. Of course all the while I was sure I was so much more knowledgable and just intellectually superior to those close minded Christians. Back in the day I wasn't even aware of my own need to put them down, they drove me crazy, too. back then I mostly hung out with people who were into what I was into and shared the same opinions as me... What a trip a church full of people is! Man there is diversity in a church like I never dreamed and extreme differences of opinions, I often see the landlord who evicted me over something untrue just a few rows away from me, but wow we got such a great place on the same day as we got our notice and also on that same day an unexpected amount of money that covered our move totally on the same day, I saw God use that thing to show his care for me... anyway I hear stories like that all the time from my other stupid ,close minded friends.. we may come from different places socially, economically, politically but we share this thing of being lovingly cared for and being forgiven for everything we ever did ... How smart do you have to be to pass that up?

Actually Christians are supposed to be Biblically minded and Protected minded. Satan has a lot of strategies so one must sometimes close their minds to certain things especially things that the mind might not handle very well. Satan then can grasp that opportunity and twist your head. Soo all I'm saying is just be mature first before considering to read or explore other things outside the Christian realm because Satan's out there! Never trust your feelings sometimes because Satan can deceive easily. God is so smart to come up with the Bible!

I'm a Christian, I'm catholic. And no I'm not close minded. I have been baptized catholic, and had to go to church with my parents every Sunday when I was a child. I'm not actively practicing my believe by trying to convert everyone. I believe in God and I believe that Jeus did give up his life to save us. I believe I will be judged at the end by the way I lived my life, not by how much I went to church or preached to others. I try to do the right thing, and if I feel I've made a mistake (I don't like to use the word sin) I will take a quiet moment and apologize to whomever I feel necesary (sometimes it might be to god).
I do know what you mean though. You are talking about those individuals who feel it is their life's work to try to convert everyone and to condemn those that won't follow. In my eyes those people have been brainwashed by their churches. It is like a cult and it happens in all religions.
I think Christians, Jews and Muslims all believe in the same God, they just don't know it or don't want to acknowledge the fact.
Be careful not to generalize, you tend to lose credibility that way.
Look around you will find many people that consider themselves Christians and are just as "normal" as you and I.

I see the first seven answers are just agreements, not really answers at all. Perhaps that's why you posed the question? Well, perhaps not, so I will attempt to fill you in. Many are cradle to grave Christians and they have either been told that certain situations are volatile or they have heard about them, so they will do anything not to get involved. Have you ever heard the Parable about the good Samaritan? Most modern day Christians are not like the hero of the story, They are not Gods soldiers except when they think there are more of them than there are of those they want to save, or get brownie points for. The hero of the Parable does exist in our world, but its not your average hypocrite.

They just want you to have salvation.........and the way you become a Christian.....is by understanding sins nature. Alot of people think that Christians judge them and think they are better they don't, they care enough about people to risk that person getting mad at them just to ensure they might get to see Heaven. No christian can come to God w/o having sinned so don't let them make you feel as if they have never done anything wrong sometimes Christians take the wrong approach and don't understand!!! Sorry for that.

The same can be said about every other religion or atheist... we all have closed minds when we do not want to be told we are wrong and someone else is right. Its a fact of life.

Christians are not necessarily close minded - there are closed minded people everywhere you look.
However, it is sad that a group of people taught to understand others very often don't. but again - the world is full of this - close minded politicians, etc.
Islam has also been hijacked in just a bad a way by close minded fundamentalists that have ruined Islam's message - and since there is no one in their group standing up against it - ruined their image too. happens everywhere.

Christians aren't close minded. Just because we don't all want to go out and party, drink beer, have sex before marriage, smoke pot, and do stupid things doesn't make us close minded. It's good judgment. I'm a Christian and I am open minded to anything. If it has to do with the whole "gay" issue, we're not close minded there either. It is a sin. God makes it clear that he does not approve of homosexuality.

The same reason that Athiests, Muslims, Budists, etc. are (including you). Have you ever read the bible? Have you prayed to god sincerly? If not, you're closed minded!

Most PEOPLE are closed minded. Everyone thinks that they're right and that everyone else just "doesn't get it".

It's funny that you're assuming that you're open minded and assume that christians aren't. In your mind a christian can't be open minded because if they were they wouldn't be a christian.

Isn't that close minded???
